clutdav Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Just watched the grand prix and I have to say - really strange decision by the Honda engineers to stop Button before he crossed the line. I do realise that he would have had a 10 place penalty for changing the engine at the next race, but to just give up championship points is just criminal. Kimi has already proven that you can come from the back of the grid with the right strategy and make a damn good race of it. Button must be gutted. One with the length of time it takes the Honda to get the tyres warm and also with the team decision to stop him. [:^)] Dave
RA Dunk Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Was planning on watching it myself but had second thoughts when the alarm went off this morning
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Just goes to show that F1 is a pile of steaming cack!!!
Kenny.S Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Dont think it's right that the driver should suffer as a result of having to change engines, The driver should be left to fight for the championship but for every time an engine fails they should take 10 points off the constructor even if it means they go into negative points. That way it would be clear to see who makes the best engines and who is the best driver, just a thought...... Kenny
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I personnally think it should be brought more in line with rallying i.e engines restricted to the same power output across the board.........then we should see who the best driver is.
SergeantScooby Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have never really been into F1, seems its more about money and technology rather than driving skills, i did watch a couple of the A1 racing which was all equal but have to say i found it just as dull, i rather see "normal" cars racing against each other.
dave_morgan Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Quote Just goes to show that F1 is a pile of steaming cack!!! I'd have to disagree with you this year. The racing's been damn good if you ask me ! OK Alonso got off to a great start, but the championship could still go anyway.
st3ph3n Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Quote I personnally think it should be brought more in line with rallying i.e engines restricted to the same power output across the board.........then we should see who the best driver is. Don't know about that one so much Andy. The engines are limited to being 2.4 litre V8s or rev restricted V10s, and as such should be putting out about the same power, broadly speaking. WRC is 2 litre turbo charged with pre-turbo air restrictors from memory. Supposed to be making ONLY 300bhp, but most cars are making more than that. It's all about who can massage the rules the best really. The playing field for the WRC is no more level than F1 is in my opinion. The skoda is hardly on a par with the Xsara. Hell even the Impreza isn't really on a par with the Xsara at the moment. WRC is still the better sport though. That goes without saying.
paul_young2 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Got to stand up for F1 Its good sport just a shame it now seems to be about money ! But tell me a sport thats not dictated by coporate business ?
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 F1 is nearly as exciting as NASCAR and we all know that is a pile of steaming cack too!!!! Guide to watching F1. 1. SWitch on tv for pre race show to see all the dolly birds. 2. get paint out and slap some on the walls 3. watch paint dry for 25 mins or so. 4. switch on race to catch the first overtaking maneuvers in the pit lane 5. more paint on walls and watch dry 6. catch second overtaking maneuvers with second pit stop 7. watch prize giving to see dolly birds and hot wives 8. oobster Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Each to their own & all that. Personally i thought the Aussie GP was the best i've seen for a long time. Schumacher's unforced accident, the Montoya incident, the first lap incident involving Massa, Klein & Rosberg, Button's blow-up on the last bend. Webber dropping out while in the lead, the dice between Kimi & Montoya in the opening couple of laps, Ralf's excellent drive to claim 3rd. Cracking action. How crap is Rubens though?
neilswrx Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 how crap is rubens? crap proves so far button is better lets see in 3 weeks at imola how things turn out ,odds on ferrari calling out the aa again ????
st3ph3n Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Rubens was a glorified tester at Ferrari. If he was close to Michael in a race then it was only because they were testing a bit out on his car that was working quite nicely.
