gus the bus Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Folks centre section from a Magnex system. Just wondering if it will fit my car with the Prodrive BB and TSL decat pipe??? any advice appreciated. Listed as: brand new Magnex cat-back centre section 2.5" fits bugeye MY01 subaru impreza WRX/STi Cheers Gus[]
dougster Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 It should do iirc. Try asking in 'technical' for confirmation.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Be careful with the TSL pipes as some of their parts for the new age use classic sections. e.g TSL thundercat uses a classic centre section for MY02 > However, according to this you should be okay by the looks of it http://www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk/newsite/pr...8&detail=36 Cheers CGS

gus the bus Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 Cal - I touch goats Sorry to hijack ur thread Gus [] Hijack away bud, I'm sure its the same topic if my detective work is up to scratch![] Cal, cheers mate. Holding off from the sportcat just now as TSL informed me that a "remap is essential" if I fit that item. So, going for the same as you have just sold Andy. Just checking that Magnex item is TSL compatible. Visually it looks similar to their centre section so I think I'll bid for it. Cheers Gus
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 w.r.t " "remap is essential" they are talkinig non-sense. A remap is ideally preferred but not essential. Many bug & blob eye owners run full decats without remaps. On a classic Scoob I would be inclined to agree but not on a new age car. The ECU will learn the new system and adjust accordingly. You will get more gains with a remap in terms of performance but I disagree that it's essential ? Other peeps may disagree but the majority will agree IMHO Cheers CGS
st3ph3n Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Out of interest, whilst we're talking about Cats. If I wanted to keep one for MOT friendliness where should I be placing it? I'm guessing post turbo rather than pre turbo? But how far downstream are we talking. I'm still weighing up getting loads of H+S (or another supplier) bits or going to C+C or Meercat and just getting a custom system.

Get a Meercat one m8 and get it done all at once and remember that it will be a fitted price.
st3ph3n Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 You would say that though Peter! I fully intend on getting it all done at once. Either full decat or 1 sports cat.
wrxmania Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Not to forget C&C Custom @ http://www.stainlessexhaust.com . Custom from Meercat or C&C is definately the way to go [] Brian []
gus the bus Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Cal, thats what I though but Mr TSL couldn't have made it stronger when I asked the question to quote: Hi Gus, You will need to fit our one piece centre section (see item no.8039071344) in conjunction with our sports CAT due to length differences. A remap is essential when fitting the sports cat and removing the cat from the centre section due to the increased flow. This can cause lean mixtures at certain areas of the ecu map and throw up a check engine light due to the lambda sensor seeing far higher temperatures. Best Regards Sam - TSL Motorsport Maybe just covering his own back!?! Gus

My car is going like a Meschermitt at the moment !
gus the bus Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Is that you fully fitted now then? no check lights? Mmmmmmmmmm! tempting, very tempting. Big difference!?! Cheers Gus
des_curran Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Gus, That center pipe looks like a classic one, i think as has been said you need to use other bits of tsl kit to make it fit a new age car. Stephen, The cat in the downpipe is the main one, it should defo pass the mot with that still in place although thats also the most restrictive one too, i think you can get away with just the rear most cat in place to pass the emissions test but it must be very hot, better to get a full de-cat. I've got a H & S system and its top quality stuff m8 very good fit and nice sound[]

oobster Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 The helpful chaps at Farmers Autocare, Brucefield Industrial Park, Livingston fitted the two pipes I bought off Cal today. The sensor in the cat-pipe was a right stubborn wee git but got there eventually. Hopefully get to give it a good blast tomorrow. Suggest anyone needing exhausts swapped-over give the lads @ Farmers a shot.Very helpful people!
