Looking for some advice from the professionals

Hello fellow scot's!

I'm new here as i have decided that now is the time to buy an impreza, therefore thought i would ask the experts opinions on them before i parted with my hard earned cash. Basically i'm looking at getting an import WRX STI and wondered what the general opinion was on them.

I currently have an Escort series 1 RS turbo which i love but decided to get a scoob now before the kids come along etc and its too late!!!!

Looking at spending 5-6k and not bothered about running costs etc, so any advice would very much appreciated.

Thanks

Look on the forums both here and Scoobynet, also Pistonheads .com

Try for one with lowish milage and service history.

A version 3/4 STI or a 99 ish UK car should be in the range of your £££face-icon-small-wink.gif

Good luck

Cheers lads,

I'm from the granite city, seen a few nice ones for sale here also one or two on fleebay (however a bit warey of Ebay).

The best thing about it is i've been Quoted 600 quid insurance and i'm only 24 (get in!!!!)

The Series 1 is really nice, always wanted one and was lucky enough to get one however i've also always wanted a scoob!

What kind of M.P.G you guys getting?

MPG? In a scoob that means metres per gallon! Do a search and i'm sure your find plenty posts on mpg.

I get between 18-20 mpgface-icon-small-shocked.gif

Unfortunatly i can't afford to keep the series 1 as well as an Impreza, so as soon as i get it M.O.T'd its up for sale. It's not the cleanest escorts ever and its not conourse however it also doesn't sit in a garage all its life it is well used in the summer months.

Will try and get some photos up as soon as i figure out how to work it.

Welcome mate face-icon-small-happy.gif

The series 1 is a classic so you realy need to go for a classic scoob ! face-icon-small-wink.gif

Uk or import bothe are good Its just that the import comes with a few more pony's of the shelf, but dont underestamate the uk cars !! face-icon-small-happy.gif

There are a few little bits (back bumper, inside bottom drivers door) apart from that its good, its been undersealed and waxoyled something cronic so even if rust wanted to start it couldn't. Not to sure about a price yet, prob as close to 3k as possible.

Welcome to SIDC mate. face-icon-small-cool.gif

You'll enjoy having a Scoob mate, they are great cars.... expensive.... but great!! Price sounds about right for the S1, I'll be looking for around the same for my '92 S2 in a couple of weeks. face-icon-small-smile.gif

The RS is always going to atract attention specially since there's not alot of nice ones, but at the end of the day an impreza's an impreza and that's why were all here.

Had my S2 since I was about 18 (4 yrs)... Got it standard, bought a brand new engine from Ford, couple of subtle, reliable mods like a big FMIC and it made 167 @ wheels at AVA. I went all the way to South England for it, its a 1992 J-Reg, 1 of 8 according to "people in the know" on the RSOC. face-icon-small-cool.gif
