colin_ross Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Tempted to put myself and the missus down for this but not sure about letting her mingle with the above mentioned reprobates. Also, can't guarantee that somebody won't tell her that a 20g doesn't get its name because it actually cost £20.
gus the bus Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 << Can we no just wear our SIDC t-shirts? Andy, no they pink wans again unless you wear Blues Brother shades too Anyway BTTT
zeolite Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 We are going to need a lot more peeps if this is to run.
ScoobyAndy Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 BTTT to rescue it from all those spammers that are off
spooks Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 Looks like there is not enough interest in this guys and gals so wont be happening, sorry about that but we realistically needed 50-60 people to make this happen. Thanks to all for their support Spooks
micra_wrc Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 sorry to hear this scott it would have been fun and was really looking forward to it
SEEVERS Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 It seems every meet i go to people are prattling on about doing something different next year,so when Spooks came up with the idea of a Scooby Ball i thought "great,a good social event to look forward to".....but,low and behold, it's back to the same old sh*t....everyone says"oh aye, that'll be great"....but when it comes to people getting behind him and making sure we get enough folks to attend to make it a success......the support shown is abismal. It's no wonder no one wants to organise anything other than runs in this club....and that some RO'S feel they can't be arsed with it any longer. Poor show people. Del.
sharon_mccall Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I agree with you Seevers. I was looking forward to going (even if i hadn't a partner) Totally pi$h that it's not going ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
scoobylove Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 can i make a suggestion...............if you want to attract people from other areas to come to this could you post it in their sections too....im in sws and we didnt know anything about this...
Gumball Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 are we adopting the mindset in general of scottish scoobies here whereby we are jumping from a burning house thats not on fire again? I would have thought that given we currently have 36 people looking to attend this, then another 7 couples committing is a walk in the park? Is it now fully cancelled or if another 7 couples minimum attended could this event still be reincarnated into the excellently planned and desgined event it will be. Maybe i personally have picked up wrongly on what its about? I think its about all of us getting together in our best clobber (tux/kilt for the guys and Evening dress for the ladies). In my experience of these things its a great excuse to get drunk, have a good time and mingle with likeminded people. it does not mean that you have to run from one side of the room to pick a girl to dance to the tune of the Gay Gordons and the Dashing white sergeant..etc etc. There will be a band, a dancefloor (where you can breakdance if thats your thing/like me) a bar, a meal and a good night. So..............if as i suspect this can be rectified depending on people realising that we only have one shot at life and who knows, YOU MAY ACTUALLY ENJOY IT !!!! Only spooks can telll us if its really too late. I would say to people that want to go but arent quite sure WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE? £40 and a hangover? ive spent more on an oil change ffs
ScoobyAndy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Well said Chris. I couldnt have put it any better myself. Scott lets try and put this nation wide and see how things go. I get a feeling we might get a damn good response
spooks Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 Its not as easy as that guys and gals. The reason I never put it to the general forum, and I did plan on doing just that, was that I wanted to ensure I could get enough interest in Scotland before inviting Nationwide this may have been a mistake but I feel that if I cant emote Scottish SIDC members how on earth could I ask National SIDC members to attend, I did not mean to offend anyone. As for the whole mindset now of lets see if we can rescue it I wanted to have this all in motion well before now so IMHO its too late. This is a rather big task as is never mind a last minute task with nowhere near enough interest to get it off the ground. For instance if I set the price of tickets of say £40 on the basis that we had 60 people to attend and we only got the interest show in this thread then who would pay the shortfall? People trust me when I say that I dont mean to offend or upset anyone in this but the way things stand I dont think I could do this event any favours by rushing it. Spooks
