32mph in a 30 - Aberdeen area -

Sharon, I never said it wasn't harsh. Just my personal opinion about speeding in 30s. I'm not in a position to talk about anyones use of the road as I've bent a few rules in my time, but I'll crawl down the mainstreet at 20mph if it's busy. I don't fancy pulling a child out of the scoop.

Stephen me too mate! I always do 15-20mph out of my estate (lots of kids around!) but some folk think its a fecking race track which really gets my hackles up. I'm the same on the motorbike.

Whats even worse is most of the folk that speed are the ones with kids in this street!!!! I gave one of the guys across from me a mouthful one night as he came along my street @ about 50mph NOT ACCEPTABLEface-icon-small-mad.gif

He now drives out @ 20mph! So, I think he got the message face-icon-small-happy.gif .... oh and he still talks to me!

Oh aye! I'd be pissed for 73 in a 70. Less so with 32 in a 30, but still not entirely happy about.

Remember, it's Christmas. They need to hit those quotas early so they can get a wee bit of time off to get the shopping done. It's cold too, you don't want to be out on the streets too long.

case would not stand if objectet if he said his speedo read 30 as the difference between brand new tyres to barely legal ones would throw ur speedo out that much anyway! i personaly have never heard of anyone being done for a speed that close to the limit but if you are willing to accept these things who knows?

The road at the bottom of my Cul-de-Sac is a 30mph limit but some folk think it the back straight at Knockhill. I was knocked down on that stretch of road when i was about 7 or 8. Playing football and the ball went across the road, ran across, grabbed the ball, turned and sprinted bak through the parked cars.......remember hitting the grill, being flung along the road and banging my head off the ground.......standing up, grabbed my ball, looked at the women and ran up the Cul-de-Sac to my mammy, who did not believe that i had just been hit with a car {dont even think i cried}. After a while a big huge copper appeared at the door asking if a child had been involved in a car accident, now mum believes son has been hit by a car, i remember sitting on the couch in the living room and the copper asking me "Are you sure you are ok", "Are you sure you do not need to go to the hospital" and my faither saying "Bit of a thick skull on that one"......back out playing football in the Cul-de-Sac within the hour but the poor women that hit me was in a helluva state and was taken to hospital with shock

Irrellevent i know but it does rile me when the numpties zoom up the road on a mission

32 in a 30 is a complete joke. Surely its safer to watch the road than continuosly watch the speedo for 2mph fluctuations.

Feel sorry for your mate. I went down that stretch of road tonight and I dont think I was doing bang on 30 either. I was just lucky I guess.

Take it to the papers!

the traffic cops are all a bunch of cants. suit them better to concentrate on real crimes like who tanned my house nearlt 4 months ago still waiting on dna samples the reply i always get, tossers. I work with an ex cop and he thinks they are all tossers too and he worked with them. its just your luck my mrs speeds all the time in 30s get fed up telling her and shes never been caught, must admit to sticking to 30s all the time.

<< My mate got done the other week there and he was doing 73 in a 70 just outside inverness. He asked about the 10% and he was told that no longer applies.

The Police said that cars speedos and the guns are that accurate these days they dont do the 10% anymore. >>

But there are quite a lot of older cars out there - my old FTO was an M reg (like most of them) and they can't say that MY speedo was accurate as it's not a car of "these days" face-icon-small-wink.gif

My GPS always shows that my speedo is reading low and I go by my GPS which is why I amalways going a bit faster than other cars past cameras etc...never been flashed yet so it must be right!

yeh. I said he should contest it. Part of his problem is that his speedo actually fluctuates quite a lot, so he could only tell within the nearest 5 mph what speed he was actually doing. - but the fact they said 32mph sounds about right.

I usually stick to town limits fairly closely, but I would readily admit to doing 32 in a 30, so I could easily be done too. Usually around town there is someone right up my chuff all the time. Motorways are worse, and I've been overtaken by all sorts of piles of junk with no chance of stopping if they had to. Don't get overtaken on many backroads though. Actually that's not true, but it's normally some muppet who is overtaking somewhere he shouldn't be, whilst I am waiting to overtake safely, and THEY have about half the grunt my STI would have at overtaking.

you're not paranoid if they are genuinely out to get you....

I would take it to court, No way they should pull you up for that. Surly watching the road is more important than 2/3mph over. as said before what about the guys that go well over all the time, It is getting really stupid it will cause more accidents.
