paul_honthy Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 can anyone tell me what the letters IHIT on the turbo stands 4? is this the standard markings or do i have a cheapo turbo fiited? any help much appreciated.
wilky Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 IHI is the japanese company which is a subsiduary of mitsibushi who make the VF range of turbos. similar to the TD turbos. I do not know the exact ins and outs of it, our encyclopeia the squirrel or similar persons will be able to expand, but if you have an IHI then your car has a proper turbo and not a nackerdooky yingtong shove haepenny special as you fear. The version will tell you what its capable of, ie V23, V24, V28 etc etc. Or a TD05 with its right angle bend if its standard. Someone will be able to expand on what I have said. relax Callum W
jamie_wood Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 It stands for something like Ishikawajma Harima Heavy Industries (IHI)
the squiggle Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 The early cars from 92-96 had a Mitsubishi TD05 fitted to the saloons and the smaller TD04 was fitted to the wagons After 1996 the Japanese Domestic Market cars moved on to the IHI series of turbos The UK cars now a days use both the TD04 on the WRX and the IHI is used on the STI UK The TD series of turbos are regarded as slightly stronger than the IHI series of turbos Grant
G.T. Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 how come the squirrel knows absolutely everything about subarus, I was asking him about dump valves and induction kits the other night and was most impressed by his answers
st3ph3n Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 We should stick him on Mastermind with that as his chosen subject. Although it wont be as good as the boy that done Father Ted this year.
G.T. Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 is this another one of your programs you watch stephen
wilky Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 The squirrel555 is the all seeing eye of subaru, be it online, on ebay or on the techpages of 22b. He reads learns inwardly digests files it away to use practically or regurgitate. He hold the largest collection of subaru merchandise I have ever seen and is a walking breakers yard. EG I was looking for a 97-00 map sensor, he rummaged in bedside cabinet, came back on the phone and said "Aye, I have one". Thats special. Hail to the Squirrel! walking encyclopedia, monitor of modern politics and contributor to Radio Four. You have to love him. Callum W
