des_curran Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Has anyone had any experiance of Yokohama parada spec 2 tyres ?
wilky Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Yes they are almost a street legal slick, awesome in the dry and good in the wet. Black circles can deliver them to your door for £96 each. However, im my opinion the toyo T1R is a much better tyre on a subaru, and far better in the wet. Black circles can deliver that for £77 each. If You want a cheap, good allrounder then the yokohama 539 are good, JC Scooby has them and says they are great value. £65 a corner from black circles. Yokahama are good in the dry because they are soft. You wont see great milage from them. T1Rs are a revised compound with camber shoulders harder wearing. Gumball had these and will swear by them. fai17 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I am sure i seen WUZ with Yoko Prada on the run. How do you rate them WUZ?????
des_curran Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Cheers peeps I just cant make up my mind what to buy, i'm not really concerned about road noise, price or how long they last, grip is my main concern (especialy in the wet)
WRC No 1 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Toyo proxes all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they last from one wagon owner to another From claire
des_curran Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Where can you get them in Glasgow (ti-r's)? I know i can get them from blackcircles on the net (and at a good price too), but i need them real quick as the current bridgestones are getting like slicks.lol
WRC No 1 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 i think you actually would need to go to a garage and order them as its not really a tyre a lot of places keep in stock We got ours from alloys direct but ............. took ages
des_curran Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Ye am thinking that too as i called viking yesterday and they dont do them, but they did have g/year f1's at £84 +vat, i went into costco too and they can do me michelin pilot sport's but would need to order 215/40's as they only had 215/45 in stock. I seen those paradas on the net and thought hmm, they look the part.lol
fai17 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Try Auto image in Glasgow for Toyo and Yoko m8 They can get them next day if not in stock. I can geta aprice for you on Monday as i use them alot and know them well. Just tell me what you need and how many. Think they are about £80 fitted

oobster Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Not really Glasgow, but maybe try Skidz in Falkirk - thats where i got mine & i'm 99% sure they were in stock
pink pepper Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 if u order from black circles and need them really quickly i'm sure if u call them they can get them to u quicker or arrange a garage close to u to get them fitted quicker than doing it over the net. i ordered tyres for our other car on a thursday afternoon and where fitted on the monday.
darryll Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 try ebay midland wheels my paradas and wheels were only 525 quid take the tyres off and sell the rims job done. u can also get toyos in the pakage deal and im sure they r cheaper than the paradas.
wilky Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Black circles can have them put on your car at a garage of your choice in your area on the same day. Failing that, Jim Dickson in Cumernauld village always has them in stock. He is slightly dearer but the price includes fitting etc. Most garages stock T 1 Rs as they are a popular tyre now, as opposed to the T1 S which had a specialised market only. If you need any further advice PM me and if I cannot help you I will certainly pass you onto someone who can. Callum W
JohnSt Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Second going to Jim Dicksons 01236-720205, they couldn't be any more helpful. ---john---

ANDYJDMSTI Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Dicksons for me too. Good lads and very quick job
des_curran Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Cheers for all the advice peeps, i will hopefully get something sorted tomorrow
Kenny.S Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I put Yoko Spec 2's on my car when i bought a set of RL7's from Wuz. They were really good in the dry, made the car react to every slight steering input so it was very responsive and precise feeling but it almost made it a bit twitchy sometimes. In the wet however i wasn't overly impressed, i did about 700-800 miles on them so they were well scrubbed in but they were just so unpredictable. Ra's can be a bit tail happy so that might have exagerted things but i think the main factor was the really hard sidewall. They didn't give any warning when they were about to let go, they would grip fine right up to the edge, then breakaway and were not talking about high speed stuff. I got them from Iain at Auto Image who very kindly agreed to buy them back off me for a good price when i explained the situation to him providing i bought more tyres from him, which i rightly did. I went fot the tried and tested GSD3 instead. The car feels totally different with these, you can feel it moving around a lot more so some of the precision has gone. The fact that the tyre moves around obvioulsy helps it in the wet by generating heat. The last run i went on up by Dunoon it was wet for the most part and the heat on the tyres when we stopped was amazing. Just my experiences other may not agree but hope it helps in someway. Kenny
WUZ Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I agree with Kenny to a certain extent. In the Dry they are AWESOME, in the wet they are not too predictable, very progressive breakaway but give no warning when they do go and putting over 400bhp through the Spec 2's over the weekend meant lots of opposite lock - not necessarily a bads thing if you know how to control the car! Overall I rate them highly, but you need to be careful in the wet! Russell ps - anyone needs a set, £300 delivered from my contact?
Kenny.S Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I've not manged to get many miles on the car since i got it in August(for various reasons) so ill admit i probably dont know it well enough to be comfortable sitting the tail out. Should really go somewhere like crail for a day and practice going sideways and generally finding it's limits and mine too no doubt I know it's not the same as driving on the road but it would help me get to know the car and be a bloody good laught too kenny
WUZ Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Kenny - fun does not even start to describe it! Russell
fai17 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Spoke to Ian @ Auto Image. The Yokos you had Kenny,,,he's selling them for £200 to me if anyone is interested 215/40/17.
WUZ Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 That is a good price for some only-just-scrubbed-in Yoko's if I didn't have some D01J's in the garage, I'd have considered them as a set of track spares Russell
Kenny.S Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 If i remember rightly thats what he gave me for them when i part-exchanged them, cost me £270 fitted when i first got them. He's a really decent bloke not many places will go out there way like that. Ill def use him for all my tyres in the future, he's the cheapest i've found and it's pretty handy for me too only 20 miles up the road. Russel.. i'm trying not to think about it too much the anticipation will kill me It'll be March/ April time before the cars out again, got one or two bits and pieces to do it over the winter. Kenny
