classicwagon Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 A day I'll never forget 15th Oct 2005. Myself and Craig having a ball in mull spectating and having a shot on the roads before they get closed for the stages. After watching the hill stage on Saturday afternoon we head for Tobermory for a bite to eat only we dont make it. I hit a crest and got a tad twitchy which threw me to the left hand side of the road where all the huge rocks are at the side of a dike wall, we end up huge airbourn over them which caused the front passenger wheel to dig in and throw us in to a barrel roll up a hill three an a half times, finally landing on the roof. We both climb out Craig had a few cuts and mild concussion and I had concussion and sore thumbs from gripping the steering wheel ha (I can now laugh). First on the scene were my younger brother and sister in law who were travelling in the car behind us and saw it all. Needless to to say they were both shaken. I would like to thank the four ambulance men, the two policemen, the women with the Range Rover and anyone else who stopped to see we were alright (not the rubber neckin laughing wa***rs). What made it worse was when I was in hospital thieving low life scum decided to steal some of my car...u know who you are. Big sorry to Craig, Vincent & Lorna. Rest in Peace Classic Wagon. May 2000 - October 2005

drb5 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Glad you are both ok. Just wondering though. You say about someone stealing stuff off your car and say "you know who you are". Is it someone on SIDC who will be able to read this?? If so, name and shame them man!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 JAYSUS ! that is scary stuff ! Sounds like fitting harnesses to our Scoobies is a wise idea when making progress...... You must have shat a brick.........did everything happen in slow motion as the adrenalin hit and heightened your senses ? Glad your alright though.....any piccies of the carnage ? Cheers Cal
sharon_mccall Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 << .....any piccies of the carnage ? >> Jees, the guy has just had the shock of his life. Pics are probably the last thing on his mind....................LOL,
oobster Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 This lay into Cal night tonight is it? He hasn't "just" had the fright of his life, the accident was 4 days ago. And since the author himself quoted he can laugh about it now, i don't think asking for piccies is in any way out of order. P.S. - Sorry to hear about the accident christpher, glad u & your passenger are ok.
sharon_mccall Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I am not laying into anyone. I was making a point. No need to get yer knickers in a twist.
oobster Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 My apologies to Sharon, i perhaps over-reacted to a meaning contained in her post which wasn't as she intended it to mean (if you get my drift). Group hug

SEEVERS Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Hope the dicks who stole from the car get their cumuppance(half cut+as politely as i can put it)glad your both OK though............ Del.
craigdmcd Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I was the passenger in the car, and I was the one that got the worst end of the stick (although not financially). I do have pictures of the car, but will wait for Chris to want them to be posted before putting them up, it's not a nice thing to be reminded of. The reference to the thiefs is not specifically to the SIDC members, as we know that the website does get viewed by visitors, but of someone that may read the site and stole specifically from the car (seats, dash clocks, air filter box and MAF, etc). The sick thing is that the car was bad enough that without prior knowledge, it looked as if it could well have had a fatality in it (my door ripped open and bent under the car during the first roll). We are here to live to tell the tale though, which is what I am thankful for (And possibly considering going to Church every Sunday now) Craig
sharon_mccall Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 It must have been very frightening for you. As for the people who nicked the bits................a$$holes! Hope you get over the shock of it soon m8.

IanJ Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Sounds very hairy! Glad all are ok. I hope the b*stards that nicked bit have a hedgehog for their next sh*te!!
