andrew_forrest Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Today we had a Scoob v EVO shootout at Bruntingthorpe proving ground. It proved one thing, Scoobs are faster and more reliable than EVO's Or at least they certainly were today. I ran 197mph then 198mph next run, then 199.4mph and we ran out of time to try again ! Now, where can I find that last 0.6 mph Andy (with hindsight, I think dropping off my 11 stone passenger may just have done it !)
RS Grant Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Thats f@ckin crazy.... Well done though mate!! Cheers, Grant P.S - You have mail.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Unbelievable Andy - well done for claiming some EVO scalp ! Are you running these sorta speeds without a rear spoiler ? Just wondered as i saw what happened to Petta Solberg when he lost his in the rally of Findland I may be paying you a visit before Xmas for a remap bty Cheers Cal
Gumball Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Andy......... figures arent everything, as long as it feels fast thats the main thing can i come in the car the next time you go that fast please??? i have a dream of getting to 200mph (even in someone elses car)
imprezapete Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Way cool! I have always wanted to go 200mph! bit of a dream like Gumball
dougster Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Did you have the roof scoop open? What about smaller mirrors or taping up the gaps in the panel work? Is that allowed? Nice work anyway Andy!!!!!
dave_morgan Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Excellent!! . I've seen videos of 200mph scoobs in NZ, but didn't realise anyone over here was that close. How long was the run? Would be great to get the scoobies getting good results in all disciplines at TOTB next year. Underbody diffusers must be the next step surely??
frank c Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Well done Andy.... 200mph ...Don't think i'll ever manage the thrill of travelling at that speed...
RA Dunk Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 WhOoOoOAAAAAAAA!! bloody hell that is FAST..soon be over the 200 mark..did ya improve on youre 1/4 mile time??
scoobymadburd Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Well done Andy but what about a 9st scoobymadburd in the passengar seat??? Too heavy??? LOL Claire
andrew_forrest Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Here is my favourite vid , not my car but Mark doing an early run, my wife came back to the start line after taking this vid and told me "don't do it" !! Andy http://www.zippyvideos.com/2652269931260106/190/*andyf
higgy Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 well done andy !!! Ask for a tail wind the next time lol. Over wat distance did it take you to get to that speed. Message from Sunny Florida Higgy
McFlash Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 FANTASTIC - THAT TAKES GUTS. SUPERB. WHAT A NOISE TOO.
Kenny.S Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Very impressive mate. On paper what is it geared for? How many revs did you have left at 199.4mph Kenny
andrew_forrest Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 It was over 1.4 miles, the car was still accelerating as it passed the timing beams. It was running 7560 rpm at 199.4 on my custom gearing set. The limiter is at 8400 although power starts to tail off from 8000 onwards.....unless I hit the nos button..... in which case it just keeps going I didn't use the nos for this top speed run although with hindsight a little 'jag' would have been order of the day I think Andy
RA Dunk Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 youve got balls i,ll give ya that much lol wouldent mind sitting beside ya at that speed though that would be a proper brown trouser moment for me but would be worth it just for the ardrenalin rush!!
mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Nice one Andy what a result!!!! Think there is no end to what you can do to your Scoob, keep it up!
