RS Grant Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 ...well, I nearly pissed myself laughing when I was told what my car made on the Dyno today!! Wandered through the workshop to view the 2nd run with the operator. The coveration went like this: Him - "Any idea what you lookin for then?" Me - "Dunno, it made 271 standard, so 280+ I'd be happy with... I'll be so happy if I go away at 300!!" He Stops walking........ and gives me a puzzled look Him - "Well, its just made 400?!!" Me - "Haha, yea.. I wish mate, that would be awesome.." Him (Laughing Now)- "Seriously, its just made about 400 on the first run" Me - *Laughed.... Couldnt say anything.... Only able to laugh* End result was: 400.2bhp and 317ft/lb To say I am happy would be a HUGE understatement!!!! Cheers, Grant

ormiboy Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 im off up there soon, if thats the case im expecting 500 bhp with similar torque!!! good going tho mate thats bl00dly great
st3ph3n Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 I was up behind a yellow RX8 yesterday coming out of work. I thought to myself - if the traffic's clear we'll maybe enjoy a wee run - as I've seen quite a few RX8s driven with a bit of gumption. I got close and noticed a DASTEK badge on the back and thought "I recognise that name". Is it one of their own cars or something? I must say grant, I do like the REAL celicas. None of these watered down new shape nonsense ones. PROPER cars. With 400 ponies it must go like stink.

Does your car have the Air Throttle?, which i believe was fitted to some GT4 WRC's and gives a mild form of Anti lag. Hats off to the Toyota Grant
dave_morgan Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Must have been a nice surprise Grant! At least you know what you can go back to if the extra mods make it too laggy! Nice one ! Dave
fai17 Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Well done Grant but that is an awesome spec engine...
RS Grant Posted August 5, 2005 Author Posted August 5, 2005 << im off up there soon, if thats the case im expecting 500 bhp with similar torque!!! >> Ormiboy, let us know how close you get to your projected figures.... << I must say grant, I do like the REAL celicas. None of these watered down new shape nonsense ones. PROPER cars. With 400 ponies it must go like stink >> Stephen, I've always liked the real Celicas too.. Think the new ones are a bit girly when you compare them to a GT4. Aye, its a nippy wee fooker with the 400bhp, as the driver of a ((6 Carrera 4S found out to his peril........ I'm not sure about the RX8's though, however, if its got a Dastek Sticker in the window then I would guess its got a Unichip on-board. << Awesome spec. Does your car have the Air Throttle?, which i believe was fitted to some GT4 WRC's and gives a mild form of Anti lag. Hats off to the Toyota Grant >> Thanks Grant... The spec seems to do the job!! The GT4 WRC's all come with Anti-Lag as part of the homologation regulations at the time... there are other parts they have too W/I capabilities, No ABS etc. All of these are disabled, the Anti-Lag is very harsh, I've read that if enabled it will kill a standard turbo within a few hundred miles. << Must have been a nice surprise Grant! At least you know what you can go back to if the extra mods make it too laggy! Nice one ! Dave >> Damn right it was a shock Dave........ I'm in 2 minds with the FMIC to be honest, I'm tempted to lag the Chargecooler and keep the W/I as the TD06 is reasonably laggy anyway and I'm pretty sure it'll only get worse with the Front Mount. << Well done Grant but that is an awesome spec engine... >> Thanks mate, it was rebuilt down in Nottingham by a respected specialist on the Owners Club...... and I cant praise the work he's done enough, the car is a bit of a monster, but still very easy to drive despite the paddle clutch, etc. Cheers, Grant
coulty Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Oh FFS what a result! Well done grant...jealousy is THE word. Grant - setting the standards where others are trying to follow! Stuart
RS Grant Posted August 5, 2005 Author Posted August 5, 2005 lol, thanks Dave..... someone once told me these cars were hard to tune above 320bhp too!! Pffft.. Stuart, I used to beat you in the Silver Scoob, then you went mental on yours.... so I had to do something drastic mate?! Cheers, Grant
dan_jess Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Thats sum result m8, bet ur happy. I was up at knockhill when u smoked Ruth. My friends have gt4's, 185's and 205's, the yellow one, the red one with carbon bonnet, 555bhp silver beast and orange beast, and the white carlos sainz with lamp pod, Paul gave u the bleed valve b4 you did king of the hill
st3ph3n Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I agree on the RX8 grant. It's not a looker, especially in Yellow. Dirty yellow too.

Thats correct about the Relief Valve mate, if you could thank Paul again next time you see him from me that'd be great!! << RSGRANT.....TOTB5 contender! >> Steady Dave, I know you're excited... but calm down a bit son!! lol << I agree on the RX8 grant. It's not a looker, especially in Yellow. Dirty yellow too. >> There is one in Dundee that is deep red metallic with light tints and 18/19" Khan alloys on it and it looks very nice... But yellow wouldnt be my colour of choice and to leave it dirty Thats just not on!! I would think that a Unichip on the higher power RX-8 could boost power to about 270bhp possibly?? Cheers, Grant
scott_coull Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Swap grant? Or shot for a shot.....pmsl Gotta have a wee look at the beast the morra night in Dundee. Beats the green bus any day eh! lol See you later dude Scott
RS Grant Posted August 7, 2005 Author Posted August 7, 2005 "The Green Bus".... how very PC of you Scott!! Aye, its a good car.. I'll show you round it at the meet, passenger rides are £5 for 5 mins on the Kingsway, or £10 for 15mins.. See you tomorrow mate. Cheers, Grant
