kitten_sti Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I have been posting on here for less than a week and to be honest i am a bit confused by some of the comments. Now for some strange reason i have been linked with adult web sites ect. So i have decided that this isn't really the place for me. Some of you people seemed really nice and some i just didn't understand to be honest, maybe it takes a while to understand the humour. Maybe i will have more joy on scooby net. Bye xx
wrxmania Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Sorry to hear this Kitten. This place can be a bit strange sometimes, as can the banter. Not much joy on Scoobynet though It is however bigger, and that can mean it becomes less personal. This is the best place for meeting folk in Scotland, as most users are here. Good luck anyway, Brian
scoobymadburd Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 kitten its just the banter on the forums really!! Being a female myself u just get used to it really!!!! Claire
Gumball Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Dont go cheeky chops stay here theres a muppets section on there according to dougster. he asked me to go...........but i dont think you would enjoy it.
johnnyr6 Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Sorry to hear your leaving so soon, it may be a little confusing at times but if in doubt ask as many of us were confused at the start of scooby ownership (with so many model codes etc.) I find it slightly worrying you've been linked to adult pages and i can't think why that would happen, i've been on here for years now and have never once been linked to an adult site which i would not be happy with as my kids use my pc at times. Why don't you pm the moderators or email wullie and ask them about it as i'm sure it is not their intention for adult material to filter onto here. Johnny

Jaki/Johnny whats the problem? i get linked with adult websites all the time!!!! i try not to but it happens like the time they used my head in an armani brochure whats the problem?
jamie_wood Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Once again a sign that this particular section of the SIDC forum is detracting from the kind of chat that is found on most of the other DRIVERS CLUBS sites Why cant we get back to the archaic Forum we loved so much?
drb5 Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 << Once again a sign that this particular section of the SIDC forum is detracting from the kind of chat that is found on most of the other DRIVERS CLUBS sites Why cant we get back to the archaic Forum we loved so much? >> Well said that man!!!
scuba dou Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Kitten, Ditto above from Jamie (shakes head) Not sure what?s been going on, and I can?t say I have seen any thing that you may be referring to; but my advice would be hang in there girl. Since joining the SIDC 7 years ago and three Subarus later my wife and I have met some fantastic people through our passion for things that go fast, namely Scoobies, although we are not Scooby snobs by any means. We used to do an annual weekend tour of the West Coast and it was fantastic times. Nowadays we focus on track events and get togethers. Regarding the folks we have met through the club several of them are now our very closest friends and we see each other several times per month. We have over a dozen other friends we have met that we see several times a year. In fact tonight my wife is out for a meal with her pals, some of whom are referred to above and there is not a man (I hope) or Scooby in sight. It would be fair to say regardless of what cars we now drive, or will drive in the future; our friendships are there for much longer. Remember e-mail and forums such as this are a difficult place to converse. Suggest you get yourself to the meets; meet some people and then you will get a feel for them and people you can get to know and trust. Lets be honest, just cause the guy in the next street drives a Scooby, doesn?t mean that you will be joined at the hip or become great friends. Hell, you will meet some folks you won?t even like?.but give it a chance and I promise you will meet a heck of a lot more that you do Regarding going to SN well there is not much happening there nowadays for us lot from North of the border, but give it a go and see what you think. What ever route you choose I wish you all the best and success.
andy Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 From the outside and not being part of the in-crowd that is so apparent on here, but having paid my membership and feeling I have a right to speak... Girl appears. Posts avatar. Pretty damn cute. Interweb - you can be who you want to be. I could post an avatar of Brad Pitt. Okay everybody knows Brad Pitt and would assume I was gay and fancied him, but you get my drift. You could have a face like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle, but post a random pic of somebody cute and folk have no choice but to take you at face value. The web is full of trolls and that makes folk suspicious. If you're genuine then good on you. If you're trolling then......why???
oobster Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I have to agree with andywrx on this one (P.S. - love the Mods: Does a Nokia Car Kit count? line). Jaki, I know I am not alone in thinking that the contents of your initial posts led the reader to believe you weren't who you said you were. I think posting the pics of "your" car when they were quite clearly borrowed from the scoobyworld website is one instance of this. However, if your a genuine scooby owner then stick around, this club is choc-full of nice lads n lassies always willing to help out & be friendly. I have only been a member for 5 months and, as someone else said on this thread, your not going to make friends with everyone but the majority of people are only here to help & be helped. I know the thread your reffering to when you say you've been linked to adult web-sites - i think this was perhaps a bit of banter which in my own personal opinion went just a shade too far (as per you being offended) but this is NOT the normal way existing members go about greetings newbies like yourself. Add your name onto the MSN Contacts List thread if you want, you will get most of the regulars on there to chat to. Whatever u choose to do, I wish you all the best Andy (oobster)
imprezapete Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 << Far too much testosterone on this thread. >> Agreed

zeolite Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 << Jaki: Chill and calm down. is all banter here >> Too much bloody banter! Isn't about time some people either grew up or moved elsewhere to post their own particular brand of nonsense? It is spoiling the forum IMHO

andrew_lally Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Isn't about time some people either grew up or moved elsewhere to post their own particular brand of nonsense? It is spoiling the forum IMHO Its a forum dude.....didn't realise we had to conform to a specific type no-nonsense banter!!! i see a few people with happy face emicons on their posts aswell...i for one think this should stop!!! Listen to yourself dude.......grow up...GROW UP.....WE DRIVE SUBARU'S BECAUSE WE DONT EVER WANT TO GROW UP!!!! People jumping in with limp wristed comments like yours is whats really spoiling the forums..... live and let live andy
JamesF Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Go on Baldy, this thread had moved away from the original topic but it's still a good bit of banter. As for the emocions, I can see why kitten has been linked to the prawn industry from the one eyed snake wrestlers out there, I think her Avatar speaks volumes to someone with an over active imagination
