Smoking Down pipe!

Hi people

Just got my new H&S down pipe fitted the day after wrapping it in 10m of Cooltech Heat wrap. Anyway me and ScoobyAndy did the job using lots of water to get it to shrink in further when it would dry off.

Anyway I just picked it up From East Linton and headed up to ScoobyAndys. I stopped at the slip road end waiting to turn left when all I got was a large puff of white smoke/steam come out of the Scoob. I was like face-icon-small-shocked.gif

Anyway I drove it down to my friends and gave it rev to find the downpipe is smoking when the engine is rev'ed.

Its a strange smell and it seems to be coming from the back of the turbo/down pipe join under the heat sheild.

NO engine warning lights or anything. Just a smell and smoke, I knowe it was going to smell. But is the smoke normal?

Gotta agree my downpipe and up pipe smoked a bit, I checked for fire a few times on the way home in fact face-icon-small-happy.gif

If your still concerend then take it back to who fitted it and let then check it over.

Totally normal. Shouldn't last too long though.

Something else that can cause it is if the cv gator is loose on the drivers side as it can spary grease up the downpipe. If the smoke doesn't die down fairly quickly have a look under the car in case you disturbed it while fitting the piipe.
