There is a program out there somewhere called Power Bidder* that puts the bid in at the last poss second. Been beat a few times for some nice stuff and it is damn frustrating.

* i think it is called this but might be wrong, there was a thread on SN about it.

Theres one called Bidrobot, costs you a few dollars a year and is seemingly really good, been meaning to get it for a while, I've been beat on 5 things recently by it face-icon-small-mad.gif also hate it when somebody cancels an auction face-icon-small-mad.gif

It's all too common now. It takes the fun out of the bidding when someone uses an auction sniper program.

There are many auction sniper programs available, some are free to use, some require a subscription fee.

I never use them myself, I just have a figure in mind of the maximum I'd be willing to pay. If I get beaten, then so what, there will be other times.

There's also a very simple way of beating the auction sniper programs at their own game. I've done it many times.

To be honest I don't understand why people get upset by sniper programs. You should decide how much you want to pay and bid that - remember ebay will only bid one increment higher than the other highest bid, so there's no point in bidding 40, then bidding 50, then bidding 60. Just bid 60 in the first place, and it'll automatically go to whatever it takes to win. If someone comes in after you with a higher bid, then they wanted it more than you! (or value it higher then you do). Decide what it's worth to you and bid within the last 10 seconds (I wait till around 5 admittedly but you do risk missing it then) and you will definitely win some bargains. There aren't as many steals on there as there used to be, so don't expect to bag one every time.

Bidnapper give a free trial and are very good. It means you can bid at things at 4 in the morning too, without having to stay up all night. I won an sti spoiler while I was at the knockhill sidc day last year by using bidnapper, so it's pretty useful for that aspect as well as the last minute bidding advantages. If you can't beat them, join them !!

p.s.

I feel your pain bro - been there many times myself !! But if it's any consolation, just 'cos it sold for 40 quid, doesn't mean you'd have won it by bidding 41. Bear in mind that the winning bidder may have bid 60, but the next highest was 40 so it only needed to increment the 1 pound to win. That always makes me feel slightly better !!

I usually wait until the final seconds and stick in my top bid - its the only way to win stuff without it going OTT early on! That way even if I dont win then im not too bothered cos ive stuck my top bid in, someones prepared to pay more so thats that! face-icon-small-smile.gif

Another good tip IMO is to bid slighly higher and not round it to increments of 5 / 10 pounds - dont bid £60 (more likely thats gonna be someone elses highest bid) try sticking it in at £61.51 insteadface-icon-small-wink.gif

If you do these steps you should start winning more - I do pretty ok on Ebay, unless someone goes bid crazy early on!
