scuba dou Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Long story short, I am looking to set up a race afternoon as part of a stag party type event for one of the Scooby boys who is getting married later in the year (PaulM-the mad P1) and the depending on interest I have the following info and am looking for feedback on who would be interested in the following. Boys and Girls welcome for the racing. Venue would be Kart Start, based in Dyce, Aberdeen on Sat the 25th Sept. I am looking at two options. Option #1 Mini Endurance race, with 2 peeps per team, starting at 15:30 hrs. 15 mins practice with a 1-½ hr race to follow c/w pit stops and refuelling (by the staff I my add). Min of 18 to Max of 24 drivers @ £40 each. Option #2 Full Endurance race, with 4 peeps per team, starting at 15:00 hrs. 30 mins practice with a 2-hr race to follow c/w pit stops and refuelling. Min of 30 drivers @ £40 each. Additional info; The longer track is 420 meters long and the shorter one is 390 meters long, but it is 1 meter wider to assist with overtaking for less experienced drivers I am told. We would be using the longer more difficult track and the Karts are fitted with 200cc Honda Engine which do up to 50 mph at full tilt?depending how may KG they are hauling around I have done several karting events here and it is great fun and a smashing afternoon out with like minded folks. After the fun on the track I am looking at arranging Chinese food at a local place just along the road, which does serve beer, and then perhaps having a few beers later on to conclude the stag night. Please note that this is intentionally set up the day before the SIDC Rolling road day at Wallace Performance on Sun the 26th Sept, so we can have a weekend of fun, and this will allow those who might be driving a distance to stay over locally and capture both events, rather than having them weekends apart. As soon as we have enough interest I would be looking for the full payment forthwith
wrxmania Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Sounds great, I am working the weekend so can't make it but hope you get loads of folk. Brian
johns Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Count me in Jools I'll go for either option, but option 1 seems quite good to me. John
dave_morgan Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Would love to come, but am already racing in a 3 hour on the Sunday. I'll certainly think about it, but would possibly be a bit of a kart overdose !! Have fun anyone who does go along though. Dave
johns Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Jools, looks like you can add in 4 of the Elise owners for either one or two teams depending on the format We'll probably have to look at handicapping as well, to cater for the fact that the lighter teams have a distinct advantage. If we can get driver weights from everyone, we can use the well tried and tested additional pit stops stuff we've used in the past at Raceland which works quite well. Cheers John
scuba dou Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 John, Excellent news. I had hoped you would ?cross post? the plans with our friends and maybe e-mail the tour de-cosse group for me, having forgot to mention this to you yesterday. I have told Arlene you might be coming in buy for the geri-cans for KH. Do you have contact details for Tut, and if so direct him here. I tried through SN, but to no avail. With the local gang, and the above info, I would say we are at +/-12 drivers already. Will post more details with names later on. Need to get names and money moving fast, as they want several hundred quid deposit to book; right now I have a provisional booking for 48 hrs. Cheers
murray_marshall Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I would be up for either option 1 or 2, with option 1 being the preference. Myself and the young fellah, and if there are places needing filled I could rope in son-in-law as a minimum. CT
scuba dou Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 OK folks places are filling up faster than I thought they would Several people have joined the SIDC forum recently, but are waiting on approvals, hence them not posting directly below. scuba dou Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 Thanks Tim, have not seen young Tut for a wee while now. Like you, a bit with him having a bad back and not driving a Kart. I would half expect to see N1TUT in the middle of things...literally

scuba dou Posted September 5, 2004 Author Posted September 5, 2004 Guys, Will be looking for some deposits this week..more info to follow.
johns Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Jools, do you want me to collect some deposits at the monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at the Old Mill Inn ? John
scuba dou Posted September 6, 2004 Author Posted September 6, 2004 John, That would be great especially if you are going to go up by the house and pick up the Geri-cans for KH. £20 deposit or the full £40 if they wish. FYI #8, 15, 16 & 17 have already sent me the full amount to the house. £360 deposit posted to Kart Start by my good lady this morning, along with completed booking form. Plans are to go out to Newmacher for a meal at Beekies Nuek after the Karting and have a few beers to celebrate PauM?s stag night, after some great fun at the track. A few more will join us for the food and beers; Simon James included. I will talk to the landlord later today and hope to set up a good deal for beer, or maybe 10% of the total bill, as per SIDC standards. Cheers
johns Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Great stuff Jools. Will try to collect deposits/full amounts from everyone attending tomorrow night who is going to the karting. John

johns Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Scooby Dooby Blue - yes there is indeed space for another two It's just that rather than shift everything up, I just added the last two onto the bottom of the page. There are two slots available, and potentially more, as I think we can run up to 34 drivers (ie 12 karts) at once. Just add your names to the list. John PS I'd e-mail Jools about payment, as it will need to be done in advance (cheque in post), and not on the day.
scuba dou Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Keep em coming... List updated with latest info I have for the actual Karting. Right now we are looking for between 18 & 24 drivers, or over 30 if there was enough interest. LIke I said I have a few on standby if I need to fill spaces. Also please rememebr that this is organised as part of a stag night out for PaulM, so we are going to a local pup in Newmacher after the karting for a meal and some beers at SIDC prices. (That means discounted ) Please let me know who all is coming for the meal, some laughs and a few beers. If you could let me know by writing in "meal & beer" after you name I?ll take it from there. There are several who can't make the Karting, but will be there for the meal & beer, including Simon James. Thanks 1. Jools (meal & beer) 2. JohnS (meal & beer) 3. PaulM (meal & beer) 4. Bryan Philip (meal & beer) 5. YoungKP 6. Ken Ross 7. BKS6 8. Tim W - Scottish Elises 9. Ali Crozier - Scottish Elises 10. Uldis - Scottish Elises 11. CT 12. CT junior 13. Ian Ross (meal & beer) 14.
