Lockheed
I suspect some one has hit my mirror . Ive taken it apart , one of the screws was a bit difficult but came off . How do I get at the motor ? and is it replaceable ? 2004 fsti Link to comment
The Don
Confirm revision letter C or D - I think we said C on Saturday. Heated or not mirrors? RH or LH side?? Link to comment
The Don
I took my JDM mirrors apart to convert to Heated. To replace the motor it is the complete item, top left below and as shown on the parts diagram above. Also the method of attaching the mirror glass varies. Mine above if you tilt the glass fully so looking upwards, there are two slots on the white backing plate above that you can use a screwdriver in to release the bottom of the glass and then tilt it all the way down and unhook the two pegs at the top. Noy sure on the earlier models, you used to have to heat the plastic rim of the glass to release it, usually breaking it in the process. Link to comment
Lockheed
Do we know if this section with the three bolt holes slide out or does the back of the mirror come off to get at the folding motor ? Link to comment
The Don
Yuo can remove/replace the blue skull cap but you also need to remove the glass to take out the motor assembly UK and JDM foresters have totally different part numbers UK mirrors have non replaceable motors Link to comment
Lockheed
I should have waited for the glass info and now ive broken it Link to comment
The Don
The associated mirror HEATED glass appear to have the same part numbers as UK Newage Imprezas. Heated Glass RH - 91039AC180 LH 91039AC190 Rest of mirror including skullcaps are listed as different due to different door mount etc.. Link to comment

Lockheed
Not sure if this the recognised method Subaru use but it should be One last problem, I cant see any way of getting the plug through this hole in the trim ? Link to comment
The Don
You have to de-pin the plug notice plug removed in my photo From Litchfield's fitting instructions (carefully making a note of where each wire goes) Link to comment
Lockheed
Thanks Don ! Link to comment
The Don
RH motor assembly with heat 91029SA021 LH motor assembly with heat 91029SA031 I think the only difference between non heated motors is the additional wiring required Looks as if they were fitted to the early Cross sport as well. Most plugs can be de-pinned, you just need to find out how it's achieved. Here is another example taked from the Subaru Harness repair kit information Link to comment

The Don
East Kent subaru spares seem to be breaking an early white forester STI at the moment - but no mirrors listed https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/east-kent-subaru-spares?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 Link to comment

Supacool1
Sorry to hijack the thread....but is there any part of the mirror assembly that needs lube or grease? I just realised that I've never done anything with them and the drivers is a little slower to fold than the passengers..... Link to comment

Sealed unit if I remember correctly the jdm ebay motor worked and had all the relevant wires for the heated mirror. Drivers side on mine is slower to close too Link to comment
