johnmacdonald
Annual service coming up - can anybody tell me the location of the fuel filter for my 2006 2.5 WRX (it's not an STi). Some say it's in the tank, others not! Thanks. John Link to comment
beefoss
It's in the tank above the pump on the Fuel pump assembly. Funnily enough, the fuel filter isn't on any of the servicing to do's lists either. Link to comment
The Don
Item 13 here........... http://opposedforces.com/parts/impreza/en_g11/type_39/intake_and_supply_system_turbocharger/fuel_tank/illustration_2/ As said, no longer classified as a service item. Should you wish to do it then this will give you an idea of what's involved......... http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f88/06-forester-xt-replacing-fuel-pump-fuel-filter-110334/#post1199907 Link to comment
johnmacdonald
Many thanks gents for your replies and I have every confidence that that you are absolutely correct. However, what continues to confuse is that the handbook that came with the WRX stated that for "3.0 litre & all turbo engined vehicles 06 model year onwards" fuel filter to be replaced every 36 months or 30,000 miles, a Subaru dealer replaced the filter 3 years ago showing part no. 42072AA011 at a cost of £26.37 + VAT and having entered the registration no., eurocarparts.com very recently supplied a filter quoting part no. 42072PA010. It's a black cylindrical item approx. 8.5 cm diameter, 8 cm high with "bent" in and out tubes. Further thoughts would be appreciated before returning the filter for a refund.. John Link to comment
ccrien
Looking under bonnet from the front, if there's such a filter its right at the top, just inside from the right (passenger side) suspension turret, ie behind the battery near the bulkhead- but late models don't have this replaceable filter just the one in the tank. If its not there you need a refund from your last dealer service! Link to comment

Have already thought of asking Subaru dealer for a refund! Link to comment
