burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Would fitting a dump valve mess up the mapping on the car if the car has been mapped with a standard one ? Cheers John
badbaz Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 That one is advertised as a recirc valve John, that's what you have already - I'd clarify what it is exactly first - it's either recirc, or vent to air. I reckon it's VTA you want?
burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 It's a recirc one baz , so it's just the same , I was wanting a louder one as well ! Lol
burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Would I need a remap if I change it baz ?
badbaz Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 No, but it will make it run like shite - be warned! You can't have it all though, it's whoosh or boring
burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 What's a good one to get mate ? Dnt know if u seen the guy selling one on the Facebook page , it's meant to be a quiet one but .

badbaz Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 That's the one I was refer to, is it recirc or VTA as it's described as a recirc?
burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Is that a good one mate I've not got a clue about them , is it worth buying ?
badbaz Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 You need establish if it is a recirc or VTA John, you want a VTA (vent to air) you currently have a recirc (ulation) valve. Find out which type it is - the make is a good one.
burgy_51_ Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Aye baz it's a recirc one he's selling ! Il probbibly get the vta one when I go to get one soon mate cheers !
scoobywho Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 You can pop past on Wednesday night and hear my one john I put the Bailey one on its not too loud but sounds just right and ive not had any bother with it running rough or anything
Bluebug01 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Another option is blanking off the recirc valve, makes a nice noise and shouldn't effect the running of the car.
badbaz Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 It's not true to say it won't affect the way it runs, metered air which the engine thinks it has isn't there when dumped and can, under certain scenarios, give hesitation etc, so expect to notice these John, run like shite was a bit of an exaggeration
johnmacdonald Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Still a little confused regarding the pros and cons of a VTA dump valve. Have had a (quiet) Forge VTA on the WRX PPP since 2007 and have had no issues with it - the WRX is basically standard 2.5 PPP with a decent replacement panel filter, and I am confident that performance has not been affected. Also had one on a previous WRX STi PPP and again, no problems.. John
mctwistuk Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I remember going through this dilema on my last scoob. I got a lot of good technical explanations as why not to fit one but also got some people posting saying they had fitted one and had no issues. On my focus st it had one on it when I bought it and I had no issues. I guess it is just one of these things where you can be lucky or not. My old thread should still be on here with the responses from the experts back in the day. Chris

burgy_51_ Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 What's the best dump valve to get guys ?
beefoss Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I've had no problems with Forge (Except when I put the shim in the wrong side.....) That was a VTA. A few of the lads on here bought Forge Recirc ones and havn't looked back. Forge have an excellent customer service aswell.
badbaz Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I have a Forge one John, but there are louder ones out there if that's what you're after

I'm very happy with my "quiet" Forge VTA and I agree with earlier comment re. excellent after sales service and advice from Forge Motorsport - rare these days! John
