About Bluebug01

  1. Haven't updated in a while as not much has been going on. Didn't use the car over most of the winter but had it's MOT last week and passed with one advisory on a warn front droplink bush. Hopefully over the coming few months will be able to find the time to get parts fitted, and get the handling sorted. First purchase of the year, hardrace roll centre correction joints from apex performance. Should put the wishbones back closer to the original angle they were before car was lowered.
  2. +1 for gary moulson at keith michaels.
  3. Steering wheel was a fairly easy job, just make sure you have the battery disconnected for a little while and give the steering wheel a little wiggle to and throw and it should pull off fairly easily. The only problem i had was that the clock spring doesn't fit the plastic cover around the indicator and wiper stalks so had to forcefully screw it on. Apart from that it works as it should.
  4. Another option is blanking off the recirc valve, makes a nice noise and shouldn't effect the running of the car.
  5. Not usualy a sticker fan but that's looks good.
  6. Not a mechanic. just like to get my hands dirty every now and again. They're fairly easy to work on, had heard all the horror stories about changing spark plugs but it was a pretty easy job in the end. Hopefully be some more updates on sorting the rear bushes out, just need to get the enthusiasm with the cold weather about now.
  7. Good work, did the spark plugs on mine recently and seems to run a bit crisper than before.
  8. It's coming along slowly, but would rather take my time with it and do things properly.
  9. Currently got Kumho's on mine which i'm fairly happy with, mine won't need changing for a while but have heard good things about vredestein.
  10. Wasn't happy with the way i was being held by the leather seats and decided on getting the front seats and rear bench from a P1, rear bench was a bit of a pain due to different mounting points from the classic to newage and also strengthening beam under the rear bench in a newage which isn't on the classic, but got it fitted and now don't slide across the seat when cornering. Upgraded the steering wheel, the original MOMO wheel was a bit to large and went for the slightly smaller and thinner wheel from a WR1, also changed the prodrive gear knob to the original leather one. Radiator then decided to spring a leak from the join between the rad and plastic top and was replaced with an aluminium one. STI intercooler refurbed and fitted, spark plugs changed, and aircon removed. Latest project at the minute is to replace all the bushings and paint the lateral links, swing arms and wishbones. So far i have got replacement arms, links and wishbones and various bushes. Tool i made for removing the link bushes 2 of the links painted and rebushed Also got some subframe lock bolts aswell This is where i'm upto at the minute, plan to paint and rebush the rear subframe, camber/castor top mounts for the front suspension, add the anti lift kit also have some STI suspension which i'm going to repaint and add grease nipples to the rear struts to help prevent any knocking in the future. Wheels to refurbed at some point in anthracite or similar colour, plan to get this done by the summer, funds and time permitting.
  11. Next up Cambelt, tensioners, water pump and spark plugs. D1 spec lighweight wheel nuts, these were shocking and lasted until i undone them for the second time and twisted, they looked good on the car but were replaced with rays locking wheel nuts, unfortunately could only find red and not the blue i wanted. Good clean up of the front arches was the next job on the list. Before After Next few purchases were a lightweight crank pulley, Tegiwa brake stopper, oil cap, battery clamp and carbon wrapped side markers Then started to make a start on the handlling side of things, Whiteline 22mm ARB for the rear and tarted up the droplinks i had previously bought.
  12. First major job to do was to replace discs and pads. Has the Prodrive Alcon setup fitted and after departing with £550 i had new front discs, bells and Ferodo DS2500 pads courtesy of godspeed brakes, Was going to get them with anodised bells but due to the anodiser being rather busy, i took it upon myself to spray them. Light sanding on the bells. 3 coats of WR Blue and 3 coats of holts lacquer, and bolted back together Fitted Decided to get rid of the cone filter and go back to original airbox and K&N filter, also sold the fog covers and replaced the induction tubing with a fog light. Next was to change the front lights, the morrettes had a fault and with an MOT looming i decided to get a pair of standard lights to get me through the MOT Front and rear strut braces purchased Front and rear droplinks, although i think the fronts are for steel wishbones. STI intercooler, STI pinks, walboro fuel pump, Denso 3 port boost solenoid, Front entry TD05 16G turbo.
  13. Bought my Bugeye in July 2010 as a second car and with the intention of using it at weekends and the odd track day, haven't yet managed to get it to the track but am now getting bits sorted with a view to doing this next summer. Here's how it looked just after i bought. First thing to do was give it a good clean, snow foamed first. Then used Autosmart tardis to get rid of any tar deposits, then clayed, polished, sealed and waxed. Next was to find a few spots to take some pics. Next up was a clean of the interior, boot and engine bay.
  14. Cheers, is there a projects section or do you stick pics up in subaru discussion.
  15. Hello to all, i'm mark and live in the Norwich area. Have owned two Imprezas over the last 3 years, the first a classic estate which had seen better days but got it to see what all the fuss was about. Sold that after a year and bought a Bugeye WRX which i currently have today. Look forward to learning from others and hopefully help out if i can.
