badbaz Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Aye, but your tyres would have been warm if you'd had a proper set up!
highlandflyer Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Also here is a picture of my geo set up does it look ok? I must say I'm no expert and only give my humble opinion, so here goes; depends on driving style and what you are looking for but as a fast road set up I reckon the extra front caster is good but may be could have been left even ie 3 09 both sides. front camber hasn't really changed! would have personally wanted -1 to -1.75 range front toe is slight out, most go for zero or slight in rear camber not adjusted??? fair difference between sides here would expect equal readings in -0.5 to -1.5 range if achievable rear toe now almost even which is fine. how does car drive/feel now?
Badgerboy Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Mines is standard and still manages to go round bends with no fancy shmancy set ups :smiley-taunt014: Aye its down to 90% driving skills and maybe 10% car set up. Wish we could have got up to some decent speeds on the fling to feel the benefits of geo set ups but just wasnt the case
scouk Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) There's no right or wrong geometry setup on the cars. I always give a slight sigh when peopel asked for specific configuration for their set-up.. Yes off the shelf set-up witll give youa good balance. But it's not a tailored set-up.. This thread is good for getting ideas what to expect, but ideally you want to take a look ar your driving style and see what areas you'd like to improove on teh car. Woudl want it to feel softer or harder on turn in, how well does it feel under breakign heavy acceleartion. And how comfortable do you feel behidnt eh wheel while cornering and on turn in. With a decent garage who understand these things you can get the car tailored to your own personal driving style and requirements. This can make a BIG difference for you specificially and gives you much more confidence behind the wheel. I quite like a slightly oversteery car in order to get a good initial bite on turn in, and it gives me something to play with mid corner (ooh err!), but that's my own personal requirement. Not to everyones taste but it's the direction I've gone with mine in terms of upgrades and settings, and so far I like it! Not sure the tyres would agree But yeah, so long as the wheels aren't pointing in dubious directions, it's mostly down to the driver getting the most out of it.. On the road the driver makes a the biggest difference, on a track car it's probably about 50/50 because your running 100% on the limit 100% of the time. Public roads aren't that reliable Edited May 20, 2012 by ScoUK

If you haven't seen this Aussie article it's well worth a read. runs through 5 parts adding different parts and settings on a classic but would still apply to a new age
