spect Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Stu, please do not take this all as a personal slur mate. It is obvious the work you put into it all, but at the moment it just does not do it for everyone. We are all familiar with the old logo and it may take time to get used to the new one. That is all. Everyone has an opinion but it is not directed at you as a person. We are really going great guns down here in the south west so you wil get more active members commenting here.
plodster Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I don't understand why they were deleted but they have certainly vanished

Its not very eye catching, also the Subaru's at the top right of the page should be ( Oh dear I'm going to say this ) in Blue..... Seeing as the Blue is a part of Subaru's heritage..? I think I'll stick to the old sticker in my car as thats got something about it, also why change something thats not broken? I agree a rebrand sometimes helps a company gets its message out there by people thinking 'oh I'v not seen this design' I think I'm going to design an SIDC sticker and put it my car. Also the top of the page looks boring...... Sorry jimmer Today, 01:43 PM Neil wrx pm me your phone number mate! Your starting something again Chris! Appreciate it like I did,lol Just didn't say what car im putting it on! stum450n Today, 01:58 PM Feel free to do better. You want the job, it's yours. Send your designs to committee@sidc.co.uk chrishornsey29 Today, 02:06 PM I'm just saying that the new logo isn't very eye catching, I'm not applying for a job, and I think all the guys on the committee have done a cracking job with SIDC, and i love supporting SIDC im constantly putting flyers under wiper blades of impreza's, it's just the designs have become a bit plain stum450n Today, 02:17 PM chrishornsey29, on 05 July 2012 - 02:06 PM, said: I'm just saying that the new logo isn't very eye catching, I'm not applying for a job, and I think all the guys on the committee have done a cracking job with SIDC, and i love supporting SIDC im constantly putting flyers under wiper blades of impreza's, it's just the designs have become a bit plain Have you seen the new website? The new forum? The new stand graphics? The flags? The clothing range? The promotional materials? Anything more than 2% of the rebrand? I think it's clear the answer is no. With that in mind, and the fact that it has been explained time and time again that there is a phased approach to the rebrand, how can you judge the effectiveness of the rebrand?!? It's like judging a cake contest on the design of the flour packaging that goes into it! Close your eyes, think of the Subaru world rally team logo - on it's own it's even more simple than ours but as part of the whole it's incredibly iconic! These things cannot happen over night.
stum450n Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Yes, that's them. I deleted them and pm'd the member involved with an apology and inviting his input to the rebrand. You take issue with what I've said in any way? You have ALL judged the rebrand based on one element and like I say, that's not on. You have constructive suggestions, send them to me, otherwise I'll consider the matter settled until the rebrand is complete. Criddy, you're clearly looking to aggravate an already tense situation - very grown up of you. It has been noted.

No not looking to aggravate any situation. I just feel everything should be open and honest. If the committee keep deleting posts its going to increase tension. If you felt it like be said in an open forum, leave it there. I've openly said I support the good work the club has done, however this isn't one of them. The sticker should have been put up for opinion as the other rebrand items were. I would question why they weren't. I would also like to point out that another RO got heavily criticised for deleting a post that they had put in open forum yet you don't take kindly to being picked up on doing the same! I'm sure that they are happy to publicise the PM's that you sent them. Inappropriate at best. Please feel free to delete this post if you feel I'm talking out of place. I'd also like to point out at this point that it seemed a suprised that Alford had to be cancelled due to public liability insurance yet the AGM clearly states that it wasn't being renewed! It does seem vey much the committee are running a "we say" club at the moment. The club is nothing without the members. If the members keep being shunned and "told off" for giving honest feedback. It should be discussed with gem to find out what they don't like not blasted or deleted by authority!
chrishornsey29 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Stu, I never ment it personally I love SIDC and the guys are pure amazing, I want the club put on every impreza owner, and Iv advertised loads, I didn't take your comments personally but however it show's how much you and I feel and every member feels about the club which is awesome we are all so passionate about Subaru, on a south west meet we all know what were talking about when it comes to Subaru, which yet again is the best thing ever, I don't want to annoy people, I just love subaru
jimmer Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Well done mate! It's your own thoughts & your opinion! We live in a free speech world! I've made mine, Now let's draw a line under it & get the south west moving!
frenchy Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I think this has gone far enough now. I'd like to make a few points and hope that it then puts the matter to bed because this constant nit picking is clearly starting to leave bad feeling with those involved. Firstly, the Committee are elected to make decisions for the club and its members that are in its/their best interest. Extensive discussions and meetings took place before the decision to rename and rebrand was decided, this also includes the design of the rebranded imagery too. Whilst we posted the pdf's of the promotional material, show branding etc in the members only section for view, this was not a consultation. We were illustrating to you how the rebrand would look and were updating on our progression of this. All artwork took months to create and agree on, we could not possibly put everything out to consultation as we'd still be no further in progressing this. We, the Committee admit that the design of the stickers was not to everyone's taste, attempting to keep it inline with the rest of the branding was our reasoning for this. However, this design is neither poor, shit, bland etc, they are merely different to what you have been used to over the last 10 + years. It is not the dislike of them that we take offence to, it is how it has been delivered by the members who have spoken out about them. Some responses haven't exactly been that tactful in all honesty. Anthony and Peter, you may consider Stu's pms and the content of them offensive and whilst he has nothing to hide, he was merely defending the rebrand and its design. You both (Stu & Peter) have a large part to play in what was said in those pms and reading the whole conversation myself I can see the point that was trying to be made, it was actually the way it was delivered that has lead to this distaste between you all. The statement of Stu being "arrogant" towards comments regarding the rebrand initiated these issues which then became out of control. I'd hope that you'd both be able to draw a line under this and move on instead of now sharing this information with others that is clearly going to extend the bad feeling already surrounding this matter. Anthony, Peter was not "heavily" criticised for removing that post, I merely asked why it was deleted and left it that. Please get those facts straight. The further comments between Stu and Peter were as above. You are all allowed the freedom of speech, as are we. We are not here to be ripped apart, we pay for an annual membership to this club just like you, we are just in a position that aids the running of the club for its members. In relation to Alford and the PLI Anthony. If you read the minutes of the AGM that were in the May issue of True Grip, it clearly states that the Committee had decided that the extended PLI cover was no longer relevant for us (allowed non members on show club stands). We believed that allowing only paid members on stand should be offered and was considered to be a "members perk". The message that was posted and aimed at Chris by Stu was deleted by Stu himself. He felt the need to delete this and pm Chris to explain his reasons for both posting the comment, and deleting it too. This should now be the end of it. Why is there a need to repost a deleted reply? I personally feel that this is going to aggravate the situation. I will again reiterate the extensive hours that the Committee have put into this rebrand. Now I appreciate most of you don't see what we gain out of rebranding and renaming the club so this is our main reason, as stated back in January. The name "Impreza" is being removed from the Subaru model range, along with the release of the XV and BRZ, we felt that it was the right time to encourage enthusiasts of other Subaru models into the club. It has been said before, the rebrand is a staged process, mainly because WE are doing it ourselves in our own time outside of our Monday to Friday paid jobs. It was decided that the first stage would be to concentrate on the show equipment as this is seen to the outside world at a large amount of shows, meets and events across the country each year, this even after six months of discussions remains incomplete in some areas. We are investing in equipment for its members, which gives us the opportunity to have consistent designs across the club. Merchandise and Promotional Material was then next on our list and whilst the stickers haven't gone down as well as anticipated, we have taken all comments on board and will endeavour to deal with this as quickly as possible. We can't always get these things right in the first instance and we will never please everybody, however we are here to accept constructive criticism, constructive being the key word. This only the beginning....... The feeling of being "shot down and pissed on" is not going to help anyone and constant reminders in every section that we ****ed up is not going to resolve matters any quicker. Comments were made today about the "bland" header of the forum/website, yes you may not like them but this does not mean that this is what we are going to end up with. The next stage, once the show equipment, promotional material and merchandise is complete, is the website and forums. This will be the biggest challenge yet in merging our types of databases together, it is not going to be as straight forward as most think. We have already ruled out the most favoured software because it wont meet our needs. Many of you have mentioned the lack of communication between the Committee and the membership which I'd like to touch on. We, the Committee can not relay everything we do to the members, purely because we'd be constantly bombarding you with updates. Surely you'd rather see things progressing rather than just talking about it? Everyone on the Committee puts a lot of hours into the running of the club and sometimes, times like this, it's a very thankless task. We have turned the club around, which at the end of 2010 was pretty much broke, into a club that has tighter control over its finances and the spending of them. Behind the scenes we are busy securing new advertisers with some exciting offers, again this all takes time. Time has also been taken in deciding the types of clothing to offer members. These are just a couple of things that have taken many hours to deal with, but I can assure you this is only a taste of what we are attempting to set up for the club and the members. A few things to consider maybe: The club can not survive without members; The Committee do this work for its members; Bad feeling between members drives other members away; We are all here for the same reason - the love of Subaru's . Rally Day is going to be our biggest event in 2012 and I'd hate to think that members were going to turn up with bad feeling towards other members, that's not what we're about. With that in mind, I'd like to think, and hope that all this bickering, stirring, hostility, and bad feeling can be put aside in order to move forward, continue to progress and grow the club that we are all here to support with an united front. Peace out from a rather worn out Chairwoman

I think we're all old enough to move forward for the sake of the club and its members. People have said their bit, now give us a chance to learn from them without being reminded constantly of our mistakes.
