devonshirejock Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Everythings fine when engine is cold. Runs perfect when driving. The problem is - after a run, when im cooling the car down. After a minute the the revs drop and it feels like its going to cut out, have to keep my foot on the revs. Anyone know what it could be? Plugs? coil pack/leads, idle control valve blocked or is it something more sinister? Any help would be much appreciated.
boab type ra Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) dought its the plugs or coils they would caus a stutter on acceleration, posible idle controlor maf i had a similar problem but mines also stuttered on hard acceleration and a new maf solved it. best look for any cracked or perished hoses and take it from there. devonshirejock Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 Ive fitted an new maf last month so i dont think it could be that. The car pulls hard (nae hesitation) its only on tickover.

killbill Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 similar problem here on a project i have. been told it could be something to do with temp sensor under the manifold. mine is fine when cold too untill warm it just hunts up and down and almost cuts out.
devonshirejock Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Fitted a brand new 02 sensor today. but the the problem is still there. Could it be the idle control valve?
devonshirejock Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Never use it mate. What part of paignton you from? Ive got a mate that lives on totnes road. Meant to be down there today. But cannae afford it the now
euan_r Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I had same issue and it was lambda, sorry to hear its not the case here, presume you reset ecu after sensor changes. If you wanted to clean idle valve its on the throttle body, highest one just above throttle position sensor, sound like its not to bad if it only happens after a while though. I would also have a good look round the small vacum tubing to see if any has perished, also are you running aftermarket dump valve as air leaks would effect idle.

andrew_forrest Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Sounds like MAF to me, even new ones can be faulty. Andy
lewisscoob Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 ticking over at 8/850 but after a minute it drops to about 200 and feels like its going to cut out, have to keep my foot on the accelerator/ You sure its dropping to 200? The rev counter starts at 500, no? I only ask as I thought exactly the same of my car not too long ago. Turned out to be an intermittent connection to the MAF. Have a check of the wiring on the connector for its condition.
