devonshirejock Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Just had a quote for renewal from admiral. £534 for for 9 months insurance. Rip off. Gone up nearly £190 from last year (for 12months) .ive been with them for the past 5yrs. So much for loyalty. Im 30 with 6yrs ncb!!! Does anyone know any good companies that they can recommend? Cause im not paying that for just 9 months. cheers
mystery machine Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 You can always find a cheaper quote, but watch out for those crazy excesses that some of the cheaper policies have attached to them
kewe Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 .....and the requirement of a Tracker if you don't have one fitted and activated
Wee Jock Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Go on to go compare and get a quote from there! I have been with Esure for the past few years got my renewal in, went online got a quote......... best price Esure (Cheaper than the quote they sent) Phoned them up as you do, just told me to accept the online quote! Simples!

wrxcook Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 This sounds strange but when using comparison websites this year I was cheaper insuring my car without the tracker so also saved on the registration on that which was a plus
jamesm Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) This sounds strange but when using comparison websites this year I was cheaper insuring my car without the tracker so also saved on the registration on that which was a plus Same here. I cancelled my tracker subscription and Admiral reduced my premium. They told me that given the car now is probably only worth buttons (2002 WRX), if it is stolen they never want it to be seen again as it is cheaper and less hassle for them if it is never found and they simply write it off as stolen. A tracker will result in it probably being found and they will have to arrange recovery, repairs etc. The tracker was worth it when it's value was substantantially more, but not now. If it is nicked, I wouldn't be too fussed, I would just go and buy something better. PS, I am with Admiral and pay £480 for a 2002 WRX, garaged, 8k miles a year, commuting (for when it snows) and 2 named drivers. Minimal mods however and 9 years NCB. Edited March 16, 2011 by JamesM

Interesting to know I guess some folk would still prefer their own car back, mind – especially if a lot of time/money's been put into modifying it. Assuming the tea leaves hadn't ruined it, that is...

micra_wrc Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Greenlight are also good for insuring imports. James, interesting view on tracker, I always deliberate whether to renew my subscription or not

arch Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Still waiting for my quote from Keith Michaels, cannot wait much longer, time is running out. Try chris at A-Plan at least he will get back to you and they are pretty competative.
wulsey Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Ive just insured the Type r for £509 including all mods, £250 excess with 7 years ncb with Performance Direct.
jae Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I have been with "more than" with uk turbo and it has just died, engine failure, now they won't insure a replacement. Apparently they don't insure "premium" cars!!! My renewal isn't until September. If I cancel do I lose my "no claims"?
spect Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I would imagine you have a contrct with them already - so i am not sure that they can remove that contract fo a change of vehicle.
a_waugh Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Im with Sky insurance. Very good and always willing to beat any other quote you can get. Im 25 with 7 years NCB, 0 points staying in a medium crime rate area with the car garaged at night and im £580 on a 08 WRX Hatch. Thats with £250 excess aswell. The next cheapest for me was Admiral/Elephant, and had some crazy quotes aswell of £3000+.
