mystery machine Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Anyone else finding the roads a bit greasy/slippy at the moment? Back end of the STI stepped out tonight on a roundabout - I was going quick-ish, but I've driven faster around similar roundabouts in wetter conditions and never had that before It's a wee bit untimely too, because I've arranged to have an uprated rear ARB fitted this week... maybe time to let some air out of the back tyres!
mystery machine Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 I suppose there's a chance I might've run over spilt diesel or similar - quite common on roundabouts. Also my tyres were fairly cold.
davey l wrx Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 They do seem it, i had a couple of minor sideways moments at the weekend. Think it's all the salt and crap on the roads with a little bit of moisture.
thebigfelly Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 nah no slippery , just full of holes everywhere !!!!!!!!
Joe G Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 The state of the roads are shocking at the moment!!
colin_ross Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Very greasy road at the moment, I'm sure it'll be all the grit that's still lying around. Having to take it easy on the bike just now.
Wee Jock Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I'm sure u'll find it better once you get the ARB on........ dont forget the droplinks!
mystery machine Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 I'm sure u'll find it better once you get the ARB on........ dont forget the droplinks! True that the stiffer rear ARB should give the car greater overall grip (on relatively even surfaces), but should also shift the balance more towards oversteer, Jock. I didn't think that would be a problem... until tonight Och well - hoping it was just a one-off on account of all the salty residue (oo-er!) and an off-camber road surface. My dampers are adjustable too, so all is not lost!
mystery machine Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Cheers for all the replies folks - sounds like it's not just me who's finding the road surfaces a bit kak just now. Jeez-oh - what with that, the potholes, the loose grit and all the litter - it's almost as if a bomb's hit the place this winter...
mystery machine Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Never mind - VAT at 20%, 99 RON fuel above £1.30 per litre, interest rates threating to go up again... good times eh? Just as well I'm the philosophical type, or I would have had the missus jump in the STI and run me over with it by now

Honestly since I done the rear ARB and changed the droplinks all round..... its more like the classic! Still looking at getting the STi rear trailing arms and Prodrive Struts......just dont tell the wife! Will get the rear training arms first then take it from there.
