Wee Jock Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Dont declare ur mods! When ur car is totaled in a ditch somewhere do you think the wee insurance engineer comes out and strips ur engine down to see what spec its built too. Try go compare! Best we got was Admiral!
scooby222 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 im sure all your mods are purely for noise/cosmetic appeal and dont add any power at all Kenny after being with A plan for 5 years i changed to sky insurance this year(no connection to sky tv) very helpful and got me down to 450 with mods declared dont forget to try gary at keith michaels and ask for your sidc discount!
marko72 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Admiral £670 with all mods declared but on the multi-car policy with provisional driver on the other car as well. Due next month so will see what happens then. Edited January 12, 2011 by marko72
jamesm Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Just go my renewal in. £453 with Admiral (£250 excess) for my 2002 WRX, not many mods, but all declared. 31, with 9 years NCB and car is garaged at night. Me and 2 named drivers. Commuting only for me. Strange thing is, the best I can get shopping around for a new policy is £750, and that was going with Admiral as a new customer Multi car works out more expensive for me (other car is a 2004 1.6 Corolla, with Bell, part of the Admiral group).
stum450n Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Dont declare ur mods! You know all these statistics about how many uninsured drivers there are on the road... that's mostly made up of people like you. Smart arses who think they know better and don't count! Have you ever had the joys of an insurance claim with an uninsured driver involved?!? I'm assuming from your statement that you haven't. I'll tell you now, THEY DO FIND OUT if your car is modified (and not just externally either).
badbaz Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Got to agree with Stu there Jock. All mods must be declared or you're looking at the rug being swept from under your feet. Just imagine, you swerve to miss a kid on a trike eating an ice lolly who's just sauntered into the road without looking. You side swipe a Sherpa full of nuns which careers across the road, down an embankment and into a primary school. Which catches fire and collapses onto a railway line. Where there just happens to be an inter city 125 going flat out which derails itself into a hospital. And an office block. And a church.... I've possibly watched too many Final Destination films! Worst case, you injure someone really badly and you didn't declare, the insurance will find out and they will step out and leave you. They are looking for an exit every single time. And your life is finished. All for a couple of hundred quid.
jebus82 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Just go my renewal in. £453 with Admiral (£250 excess) for my 2002 WRX, not many mods, but all declared. 31, with 9 years NCB and car is garaged at night. neill54 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Both impreza and forester on separate policies under 600 Joys of getting old!! Neil
Dougs Scoob Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Best we got was around 750 mark (200 more than last year!). That was until we took up the offer of 12 weeks free insurance with Aviva - £489. Dont have any mods. 26 with 8 years no claims but the mrs on as 1st driver. Was well relieved when i found that quote. The prices are rediculous at the moment tho for ins and petrol but try aviva guys. 12 weeks free ins if your a new customer.
G.Mac Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Must admit Gary quoted me happy for the first time 650 with mods declared must be because I have hit the magic age of 30! Give Gary at Keith michael a go and also try a-plan, they have always been the cheapes for me declaring my mods Graeme
wrx kenny Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Spoke to Gary at Keith michaels today £ 595 with all mods listed , well happy compared to what I have been quoted
bobbyc Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Spoke to Gary at Keith michaels today £ 595 with all mods listed , well happy compared to what I have been quoted Kenny I was with A Plan with all mod's declared for the GB last year, they put it up from £500 > £600 this year which wasn't too bad considering the policy would replace like for like on the mod's front in the event of an accident, Admiral quoted me £450 with all mod's declared but the catch is Admiral will not replace mod's like for like they will return the car to standard when repairing, it's worth while reading the small print & asking the questions saving £150 might cost you thousand's in the long run. Doesn't matter any more as the GB is gone Admiral took £223 for the RS & £260 for the RA on a multicar Result!!!!! & cheap road tax
**jay** Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Insurance is just getting silly now, im 34 and paying as much as i did when i was 20, 14 years no claims now its a joke
Moley_WRX Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) wrx kenny - your mods will also be covered like-for-like on the Keith Michaels policy. According to the lastest figures, in 2010 there were 400,000 whiplash claims (ignoring all other personal injuries, repair costs, theft payouts, hire cars charges etc...) at an average payout of £5k, so that has cost the insurers £2bn.... or 20% of all premium paid last year, hence the increases. Edited January 26, 2011 by Moley_WRX
marko72 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Admiral £670 with all mods declared but on the multi-car policy with provisional driver on the other car as well. Due next month so will see what happens then. Renewal through, same as last year, neither up nor down. Breaks down as £466 for the scoob, all mods declared and £204 for the daily driver.
