Goodwood Festival of Speed, 2011

We were up at the Rally Paddock this year and, although it wasnt as mobbed as the main areas down the Hill, the folk that came to the stand were rally fans, happy to browse the shop and loiter about the R4 :)

We were launching the R4 Bamber model - these are so much cuter in real life

Ken Block visited the stand to sign some stuff for the charity.

and it crept past our stand during the busy spells of the day, which is good for us

We spotted Colin's car in the Skoda stand - this is the one he was driving in Australia 2005 and did not finish due to the clutch incident :brickwall:

Overall, it was a fantastic event, despite the long road trip.

On our way back, we stopped off at Prodrive (including a tour around the workshops) and Roger Clark's new premises (got a lookie at how the new Gobstopper 2 was progressing).

Looks like another top event Imy :headbang:

Very well done to you, Grant and the team for your continued time and effort for the cause :icon_salut:

North Wales next on your tour of duty? Wish I could have made that to help out but clashed with my trip to Dumfries and Galloway.

Keep up the great work :occasion14:

Nice one team!

Looks like it was a great weekend! Bonus having the queues right past the front door! Also nice to see a few big names getting involved there!

Is grant still taking the trailer up to the Speyside Stages rally at the start of the month? Would be nice to catchup.. Bin a while. :hello:

Al,

Not sure if we'll be at the Speyside, will let you know once we know.

Gus,

no worries about the Wales event, you'll miss seeing N1 WRC in the flesh :(

If anyone is free on weekend of 23/24 July, come along to the Subaru weekender.

Its shaping up to be quite a show,

Colin's Series McRae will take part in the tour around Wales

and on Day 2, Prodrive are bringing N1 WRC to display and RCM have confirmed Gobstopper 1 will be there

Several car clubs have stands and fundraising includes an auction of some tasty and rare stuff.

Subaru Weekender - Tour and Show of North Wales

We were in North Wales at the weekend for Justin's event.

Audrey and Andy in the team drove Colin's Series McRae down and took part in the Tour.

They were car no. 2 and enjoyed the scenic drive around North Wales with 100 other Subarus :driving:

Grant and I towed the Legacy down and set up the stand with the retail unit, N1 WRC, the Series McRae and the Legacy.

Jackie from Prodrive also brought the McRae & Ringer overalls from the heritage centre

Many thanks for Stuart Syme for bidding on some of the auction prizes.

Had to lol when he comes over and says "I need to pay for some prizes... but I can't remember what they are..."

The event was very successful and raised a healthy sum for the Vision.

There's something special planned for this year's Stages...

The ‘original’ Stig has confirmed he will compete on the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally 1st Oct :banana2:

Stig Blomqvist will be driving a new MkII Ford Escort, owned and prepared by Phil Mills :driving:

Blomqvist and Mills will also be star attractions at the eve-of-event Rally Forum,

Rally Day 2011, Castle Coombe

The Vision took the Sierra Cosworth and the retail unit to Rally Day.

We had a brilliant pitch and were joined by the Pirelli simulator and Action Art.

It was the Cossie's 25th birthday, Jimmy and Russell Brookes were among the drivers that were on track.

We had some special visitors to the stand, Matthew Wilson, Phil Collins and Russell Brookes :icon_flower:

They kindly signed some stuff for us and added to the list of autographs that we collected at Goodwood.

Jimmy was interviewed alongside Matthew Wilson

rallyDay007.jpg

The weather was pants, it was bucketing down one minute and the sun splitting the sky the next.

Also got a chance to speak to Kris Meeke, he was there driving the Mini WRC but broke the car, twice, by early afternoon and was loitering around the Prodrive service truck when we were having a wander.

rallyDay012.jpg

Didn't take a lot of pictures, was tied to the stand for most of the day.

Blast, not gonna make the stages this year, i'll be in Mallorca. :guinness:

aw, thats a shame Gordon

The winner of the competition gets exclusive access to the Shakedown session, which is closed to the public.

Put in a text entry anyway, it costs £3 a text and at least £2.81 goes towards the Vision.

To those that are reading/following this thread, it would be good if you could take part and help boost the numbers,

there's been very little interest in the competition

Text your answer (a=1; b=2; c=3) to "70007"

The question is "How many of the McRae Family have won the British Rally Championship?"

Date and time for the rally ride is 16:30 hrs. Thursday 6th October and the winner is required to be at Perth Aerodrome by 15:30.

aye Grant's fine, keeping a low profile and staying out of trouble lol

Got some details for this weekend's McRae Stages

Friday 30 Sept - Aberfeldy

The retail unit will be in the service park from 1500 to 2000.

Drivers forum with Stig Blomqvist, Jiimy McRae , Phill Mills and David Bogie starts at 2030 in Moness House Hotel & Country Club, Crieff Road, Aberfeldy

Its FREE Entry, donations on the door.

You need to email tickets@colinmcraevision.com to get a ticket - 2 per enquiry - and there are very few tickets left.

Saturday 1 Oct

The retail unit will be in the service park. Come over to have a look at the new stock.

I hope the tent selling Home Baking is back, they did some fab pancakes last year :)

Looking at the rally info here on the CCC website, things seem to be less spread out.

The link also has Google maps for the stages and spectator parking.

The start and finish will be at Aberfeldy, which saves a trek into Perth city centre and getting stuck in traffic.

The Stages are always worth a trip, but doubly so this year as the real Stig will be driving a MkII.

The McRae stages this year was a bit of a mixed bag...

Friday was brilliant as the sun was shining, Aberfeldy was glorious and we got to see and hear Stig Blomqvist, Phil Mills, Jimmy McRae and David Bogie have some banter with John from Coltness Car club at the drivers forum that night.

There was also an auction and Grant, Dave and John had their eyes on some tasty prizes.

Saturday was a wash out :(

It was wet, wet, and um wet.

The service area quickly turned into a boggy muddy marsh and the busiest people were the tractor drivers!

They were towing vehicles in and out of the field, including moving the big heay tyre servicing trucks/wagons !

Spectator footfall was light, I think most folk abandoned the idea of coming to the service area.

We heard that the stages were very slippy, with a lot of cars spinning or going off.

The next (and last event for us this year) is the IRC Rally of Scotland this weekend.

The R4 and the retail unit will be at the start line at Stirling Castle on Friday (7 October).

Alistair McRae will be there, driving the Proton.

There is also talk about Toshi Ari attending.

Hopefully we get a good turnout and the forest stages on Saturday are kinder to competitors than the McRae last weekend.
