hyper Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Alright all, Im going to look at a Impreza version 2 on saturday at MVM Imports. Here's the link to the car if anyone is interested. http://www.mvm-imports.co.uk/ They have the car advertised as a V-limited. I thought that V-limited's only came in blue? If im wrong how can you tell its a genuine V-limited or STI for that matter? I take it the STI's didnt come with painted sideskirts or door mirrors. This will be my first Impreza if i buy it, so just wanted some advice incase its a sh*ter cheers Hyper
the squiggle Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 3 different types of V2 use the Limited tag 1, WRX V-Limited, non STI about 260bhp and comes in rally blue 2, WRX STI Limited, about 276bhp, comes in Rally Blue and has roof vent 3, WRX STI RA V-Limited, about 276bhp, comes in Rally Blue, has roof vent, DCCD (Driver Controlled Centre Differential), Colin McRae signature on the drivers seat and Derek Ringers on the Passenger seat, Fifth fuel injector right on top of the manifold and it also has very short gearing. If they try and tell you its an RA version and it does not have a rotary dial to control the DCCD near the handbrake switch then its a STI Limited If it does not have a roof vent then its a WRX version Hope this helps
the squiggle Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Its a WRX V-Limited If its the one at the bottom of page 2 Yes it should have painted mirrors and skirts, only the RA Version were unpainted
hyper Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Alright. Sorry about that, i thought the link was to the car. Its actually the dark blue N reg, 5th car down on page two and the white N reg below it. I like the white one the best but dont believe its a V-limited and im also a bit dubious weather its an STI since the mirrors and skirts aint painted. Cheers Hyper
G.Mac Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 take it it is this one? http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/popupimage.cfm?VehicleID=AETV84517948&Image=http://images.autoexposure.co.uk/AETA87759/AETV84517948_2c.jpg Graeme
hyper Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Yeah thats the blue one im also going to look at. Is it a genuine 555. This is the white one i like as well, http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/popupimage.cfm?VehicleID=AETV87566050&Image=http://images.autoexposure.co.uk/AETA87759/AETV87566050_2c.jpg advertised as a V-limited STI but i dont think it is Cheers Hyper

I like the white one the best but dont believe its a V-limited and im also a bit dubious weather its an STI since the mirrors and skirts aint painted. Cheers Hyper The year is wrong for the white car it says 1998 should be 1996! I had a WRX V-Ltd of that year there are pictures on here of the car somewhere, see my avitar! The V-ltds of that year had a WRC Winners badge on the boot and embosed into the seats(so the seats are wrong), also had the Cars ltd no on the boot as well, mines was .......... Im not 100% sure but I think there were 500 white & 500 mica blue!
Wee Jock Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Heres a link which tells you the model of the car and the engine type, check this against the vin plate of the V-Ltd, should be: Applied model-GC8C48D (For it to be an STi the last 8 in this number would in fact have to be an E,an RA it would be 7) Engine Type-EJ20G DW5HE The car also came with a Z4 ecu which was equivalent to a Prodeive PPP and the car was actually 270bhp! http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html Edited January 7, 2011 by Wee Jock
paul555sti Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 The prices are also pretty steep! Keep an eye on pistonheads and the forsale section on here and scoobynet! I would rather get one from an enthusist rather than pay a premium to a garage!
lewisscoob Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 The prices are also pretty steep! Keep an eye on pistonheads and the forsale section on here and scoobynet! I would rather get one from an enthusist rather than pay a premium to a garage! I was thinking the very same Paul... I have just started a debate with the seller of this car over on pistonheads. I dont think its an STi and have told him so... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2353428.htm Just shows you, there a lot of falsely advertised imprezas out there. Whether its genuine lack of knowledge or not is another matter. What doesnt help is the massive amount of different models and specials and such like... To the OP, make sure you shop around and drive plenty of cars to get a feel for how they can be or could be before taking the plunge! Even go along to a local meet and see members cars. Thats where the knowledge and banter is at!
johnnyr6 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 The blue one has been for sale for ages, prob due to the price but if you like it you should be able to get for a lot less. You should be able to pick up a nice v2 sti for around £2500 if you look about. Johnny.
hyper Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Cheers for all the replies. I think i might pass on the blue one as its been in the country since 2005 and doesn't seem genuine. Cheers for the vin plate info Wee Jock. I found that site a while ago and ive printed of the info for version 2 cars to take with me and check. The White N reg sti version 2 has only been in the uk since 09-2009 and seems in pretty good nick, with good mileage for the age. Thats what is tempting me. I thought the prices were a bit steep as well but could hopefully get it down to £3500, maybe less if i find out its just and STI instead of whatever else they may call it. Do you think £3500 is still to much. I was having a look on pistonheads today and there didnt seem like much decent cars. The problem is i dont have a car at the mo cause i was using the missus car over winter but now she needs it back and i need to get something to use until summer time. Cheers Hyper
Wee Jock Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 The white one is no V-LTD STi as there were none made for that year! Only V-Ltd WRX like mine, which started production in 1995 and ended in 1995. It has no V-Ltd seats, badges or Ltd car number. I wouldnt personally trust someone who has a disclaimer stating : Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the above information but errors may occur. Please check with a salesperson. Pays to do your research before you advertise. In my opinion I doubt it is what they say it is and I wouldnt touch it with a bardge pole!
johnnyr6 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) The fact the car has been in the uk since 2005 shouldn't put you off. It can actually be a good thing as you'll know its ok on uk fuel and it may have even built up a bit of history. My car has been in the uk for 8 years and is still very nice. For £3500, if you can get cash, could get a V3 or v4 sti with a bit of searching. If your going through a dealer there are a few better ones around, maybe sva imports. Personally i like the V2 sti's inc. the limiteds and they are getting rarer these days which is stopping me from scrapping mine... This seems quite nice v limited.. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-for-sale-cars-352/866962-subaru-impreza-sti-555-special-edition-for-sale.html Good luck M8. Johnny. arch Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Of all the cars there at that price point you would be better with the white ver 3 STI but even it is way to expensive.
Ovv Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Not putting them down as never had any dealings with them, but stock is pretty old, they dont seem to sell much - they have cars which have been there since I started looking this time last year.
the squiggle Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 All the versions of the Limited were released in Oct 1995 as the 1996 model year
05WRX Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 A friend of mine bought a Honda Civic Type R from them and he has had nothing but bother with the car. I'm just saying.
