Alright Chris, glad you made it home/car into the garage - no more bad news for today I hope!

So gutted when the caliper came off, couldnt believe you managed a very low 11sec run on only the first go, that skyline was so worried about racing you that i am sure he had something to do about it.

Hopefully see you back there in 2 weeks but i am not promising anything as like I said, its an expensive month for me!

Wee bit bad news. But as Arch said, the outcome could have been alot worse! Exellent that you got a low 11 with your firtst run and that you found it easy- if that's the right word to use? Hope you get the caliper problem sorted ok. Knowing whose hands it'll be in, I think it's sorted already basically.

Got compbrakes 6 pots possibility the bottom bolt has been working loose a bit of damage inside the wheel nothing major thank god ..What's the norm for securing the bolts ?? Was told bye another subaru mechanic that there should be a spring washer then a washer and he then locktites the bolts ..

A spring washer would definately help but I wouldnt locktite a caliper bolt that screws into an alloy caliper your asking for issues when you try and remove the bolts if the calipers need to come off. I personally have never had a caliper bolt come loose. When you checked the car was the bolt loose in the caliper or did the caliper snap across the bolt mounting flange. If as I suspect the caliper has snapped across the bolt hole in the caliper I would be inclined to think that either there has been a flaw in the material or the caliper has been over tightened in the past causing stress to the mounting flange. Any chance of a warranty claim from compbrake?

Break failure is never a joke but if it happens at 137 going over the line a crail then you did well to keep your feet dry.

The car surely has a ten in it and if your luck changes you'll be knocking them out at will soon enough.

Would love one myself but simply haven't been able to spend any time on the car lately. We'll have some good battles next season I'm sure.

Will be good to get a bit of competition Colin it's always welcomed and the banter is good, the good thing about not spending any time on the car means you not breaking anything also lol, I have another few mods up my sleeve for you next year he he.. :occasion14:

Chris,

The guy that recovered your car said he's found what looks to be coolant leaked on the bed. Might be worth having a wee check for leaks :)

Hi Adam yes noticed the wet patch on the bed when we dismounted it from the truck leaky hose, also Stevie has looked at the caliper it's sheard off from the hub looks like a failure on the alloy bracket, Will be speakinng to compbrake today..

Hopefully get a result will be up and running for the 7th Nov.. for this elusive 10 lol :icon_butt::occasion14:

Hopefully i get the box early next week so i have it on and good to go on the 7th. Should manage an 11 of some sort. Previous owner managed 11.9 at Crail so have that to beat.

Hi Chris, the caliper brackets sent yesterday. Caliper ok, seems bracket has had a small fracture prior to sundays mishap. Fracture on sunday is very clean and the other looks stained and been there for some time. Compbrake said there has'nt been any issues with there mounts. These mounts and calipers were assembled and torqued as per compbrakes specs.

I've relayed our concerns about their product and need a cause for the failure, we can't have another breakage 12 months down the line.

As for the RS4 calipers I ain't got any. RS6 on rather large rotors maybe :rotfl:

I should have motor back together for you come the weekend.

Steve.
