Scoobychick Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Hi all I've recently moved to Moray and am looking for someone to service my 01 bug WRX PPP in the Elgin area and also to tell me what the nasty squeaking noise is from the engine (suspect water pump is on the blink). I used to use a Subaru specialist back in Essex but it's a bit too far to travel now I don't mind a bit of drive out - so as long as they're within an hour or so I'm happy Cheers Sal
scooby doom Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Hi Sal and welcome to the area. I'd recommend you call or drop by to speak to Dave at Bitz Motorsport at Nairn. I had my car serviced there in May and I know some of the others round here have to. They also offer a discounted rate for SIDC members so be sure to mention that too. Clicky to Bitz I'll be posting another Moray meet/run in the events section later today so hope to see you there if you can make it. Pete
Scoobychick Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Cheers Pete, I've seen Bitz on runs through Nairn and wondered if they were the people to see. I'd better pay my SIDC subs up quick sharp then
thefastone Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 There's also Liam at GlenBurgie too which is slightly closer outside Forres, but they are more of a pain to find to be honest, they do some mechanical things and I think, although I can't remember that they also might do servicing, but they are a scooby breaker, so they are a good place to get second hand spares, should you require anything... Although I've not been up to them for a good long while now...
thefastone Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 http://www.glenburgiecars.co.uk/SUBARU.htm Although note, I've never used him for servicing, but some others I think have...
scouk Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Bitz would get my vote.. (although not used them myself.. yet...) Glenburgie are closer though, just turn off before Forres on the A96 (West). They still do servicing and mechanical stuff as far as I know and the odd bit of spraying. But when i was up seeing him at the start of the year he mentioned he's reducing the parts side of it as he's struggling to shift stuff..
thefastone Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Really? Thats a shame, but then I think that it has a lot to do with not really being mentioned these days, I've not heard anyone speak of him for ages... Which is weird, He's saved my bacon on a few occasions...
euan_r Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 liam was stopping subaru side of things but the cars kept finding him so he is still working with them. the experienced mechanics he used to have left a year or two ago. i would go to blitz now if i didnt do my own work.
thefastone Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Well that's something that I never knew... would explain why he's been mostly off the radar for so long then...
davey l wrx Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Bitz all the way for me. It's where mine gets serviced. If they build and race Impreza rally cars they know their stuff. I got a 10% discount off the labour charge for being a member of SIDC to. Every little helps.
