cruz104 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) The New York Auto show yesterday saw the wraps going off to four-door sedan version of Subaru WRX STI. This is the first time WRX STI will be available in both, a 5-door hatch and 4-door sedan configuration. The 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI features a newly designed 18 x 8.5-in. BBS forged aluminum-alloy wheels, high-luster paint and weigh 17.6 lbs which is considerably less then the previous standard wheels. It has Brembo Performance Brake System and both models receive significantly revised suspension tuning. However, power comes from the same turbocharged/intercooled 4-cylinder Boxer engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which is capable to deliver 305hp and 290 pound-feet of torque. If we talk about the design aspect of 2011 Subaru Impreza STI, it will come with a new facade, revised bumper, a lip spoiler, freshly designed front grill, new fog lamps and bumper intake openings. At the same time four door STI will have wider rear fenders. Well it is starting to look a little better! but will it make it to the UK?????? Edited April 2, 2010 by cruz104
StrikE Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Rear end looks like the old EVO 5 and 6 Yup thats the first thing i thought too. Prefer the Hatch
ciaranrb5 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Im sorry but that looks awful. It looks nice and phat but the bacl looks like a Kia or something
DR Motosport Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Now that looks better. Still not perfect, but certainly better. Looks wise, it gives the car a better overall balance. The long low bonnet line, rammed up the rear end look of the hatch is gone. And so have the Lexus back lights. Just looked at an old picture of my EVO6, and can't see anything similar. Now Subaru UK.....................bring it here too.
gus the bus Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Rear end looks like the old EVO 5 and 6 Or an MG ZS Quite like it tho
lewisscoob Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Im sorry but that looks awful. It looks nice and phat but the bacl looks like a Kia or something +1 take away the rear wing and all I can see is a mish mash between some dull american/korean effort. Im sure it looks just dandy from the front and sides!
cruz104 Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 +1 take away the rear wing and all I can see is a mish mash between some dull american/korean effort. Im sure it looks just dandy from the front and sides! mish mash is a good description, i am thinking they don't know what to do with this iconic car, it is like a cross between a subaru and an evo, it is still not right but moving in a better direction.
DR Motosport Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Or an MG ZS Quite like it tho Your right Gus, it the MG. I think it's the bumper that's too fussy. Too many bits and shapes to it. All it needs is smoothed off a bit.
scoobyseller555 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) ...........................order now for the end of the year delivery, going to be sold as an STI Widebody. Gav Edited April 2, 2010 by scoobyseller555
scooby222 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 hmmmm, seriously Gav? might be tempting- what power options? and whys there no frontal shots??
RA Dunk Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) Reminds me of a cross between a Renault Laguna and a Evo 10 Hatch looks miles better IMO Edited April 2, 2010 by RA Dunk
Scooby Wagon Addict Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I like it But isn't this just gonna cause more confusion? They've been trying to get the public to recognise the hatch shape (which I have to say really has grown on me...with the rear light mod! ),then they bring this out! I feel that Subaru have lost their identity ,if u kno what I mean..
4Hero Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) a couple more shots, still not a fan though. I'll stick to my T5 for now Edited April 2, 2010 by 4hero
craigdmcd Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Looking at the rear lines, I thought more Hyundai Accent WRC car.
cullenmin Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Front bumper is nowhere near big enough or low enough, makes it look naff
StrikE Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?s=&...t&p=1353777 For the vid clip
lewisscoob Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) In 4hero's last photo it looks VERY evo 5/6, so for that reason, i'm out! It is better in the blue on Dunk's pic. Also, do the rear discs not look bigger than the front in that pic? Edited April 3, 2010 by LewisScoob
FurballPhil Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Have to say that it will good to see the saloon scooby make a comeback.... However, still needs to regain that agressive look again Was never a fan of the new Ford Focus Style Impreza... (No Offence to owners of them, just my own taste) Same said for Evo`s, my taste says the Evo lost it`s looks after the Series 6
thefastone Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I'm certianly glad that its going back in the right direction again, not completely sold on it yet though, I think that might take a little time, but I'd certainly be interested to see it in the flesh...
RS Grant Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I think it'd look pretty good lowered, with a front lip and some beefier wheels. Any price/spec details for this Gav?? Cheers, Grant
dram300 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I'm not a fan as I agree its too Evo5/6 with a hint of MG about it as others have said. However, respect is due to FHI/Subaru if they have brought this out amidst the 'cool' response to the hatch model from the customers. Anyhoo, as mentioned when the hatch came out: who buys a scooby for their dashing goodlooks. If it goes like fook and sticks to the road like nothing else this side of £30k, I might be persuaded. So whats this new springs, 305ps, widebody, wide track bit all about then ... is it going to go like fook and stick to the road ...
edmondo Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Or an MG ZS Quite like it tho agree with it looking like an MG ZS however at last coming back to 4 doors need to see it in the flesh though
