WRX04
What's the general concensus on the new hatch STi's? I've not really seen many comparisons from folks who have owned Blob/Hawk STi's then moved to the hatch. Have driven a couple and found them to be a better all round proposition to the saloons in terms of practicality, comfort and refinement. They were std cars I drove so didn't have much of a note, the test routes were really short so didn't get a chance to punt them thru twisties much. Left me thinking it would be better than mine for covering distance in but might have lost a bit of the rawness of some of the older scoobies for when you want to have a blast. Anyone got any views on handling and performance? Cheers. Link to comment
micra_wrc
i've not driven a hatch STi but was following Glyn (balliSTic on here) up to Alford through the Glenshee road and his car looked very stable and planted through the corners. I'm not sure what mods he's done but it looked and handled great. Link to comment
StrikE
I went from a RB320 over to a STI hatch and can honestly say.........wow!! I am by no means easy pleased & a perfectionist at heart and i am more than happy with the STI Hatch, even standard!!! wider track, longer wheel base, better interia & more practical [for me] Go buy one, it's the way forward IMHO Link to comment
billyboy
They are a good drive.Especially after you change the exhaust and get Andy F to up the performance a good bit. Link to comment
ed-209
I have a 330s which is basically a STi with some extra. This is what I wrote about it a week after having it. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...440&hl=330s Since then I have did Braded brake hoses, Dot 5.1 fluid, H frame, Panel Filters, Front Splitter and the car goes the very well and stops even better, just ask terzo. I did have classic, blobeye and hawkeye scoobies and this is the most pratical and best day to day. I only really use it at weekends and meets and I'm getting an average of 24MPG over 1700 miles. So all in all go for it. Link to comment
scoobykev
I thought the hatches have a problem with melting engines, or has this been cured now? Link to comment

l137sws
Had an 08 STI for 15 months now after 4 x WRX's. Would recommend to anyone. Faster, more confortable that previous model. Have 18" Prodrive alloys. There was a recall last year for engine issue. You had to be hitting rev limiter frequently for it to be an issue. Insurance cheaper. Fuel economy better than WRX it replaced. Get 27-28mpg on motorway AND I run Sport # always. Link to comment

scoobyseller555
No, they were melting without any modifications I know m8,that was satire,as there are always a way round a modified car if the owner uses his head. The fuel map is the problem, and a quick fuel map alteration at the dealership cures the problem. Gav Link to comment

Cheers, Grant Aye whatever mate, one of these is looking more likely when i do eventually change, since the E55amg i'd really like is looking more and more unlikely after looking into the servicing costs (16 spark plugs) What are you driving now buddy? I've got an EK9 Civic Type R at the moment, few pics of it here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1284321.htm Cheers, Grant Link to comment
