sma01 Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) The DVLA have a lot to answer for. You're right a T plate should be a version 5, mine is on an S. Have a look at the tags on the bottom of the seat belts, they will have the year of manufacture printed on them, will probably say 98. even the mot doesnt specify model, seems to show as an LX??i'm told that has something to do with the classification they are given when imported?? suppose it doesnt really matter at the end of the day, car drives well and i like the way it looks, just annoyed that feel ive been misled when buying it.... sma01 Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 The other thing is some of the things you use to tell if it's a version 4 or version 5 have been changed, The original spolier and grill would have given the game away for sure but as they've been changed you wouldn't have known. serves me right for not checking deeper into it...its bought now though so not a lot i can do about it...
colin_ross Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 When they get to this age you're better buying on condition rather than miles or spec. You could have bought a rotten v5 or a clean v4, what would you prefer? There are some differences buuutttt if you really intend to leave it as a standard daily driver none of that maters.
thewelsho Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 V4 or V5 whatever... its looks fab, love that!

dipsy Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Tidy looking impreza .No body has posted what the difference engine wise is over the v4 to v5 .The v5 the icv is in the inlet plenum, the dump valve is bolted on the intercooler right hand side, stand in front of the car the coil pack is right behind were the ac pump is and plug leads are different style to v4 just easy things to notice .Scott not picking fault with your impreza just to let people now what the difference's from v4 to v5 engine wise if they did not know already just being helpfull
