Massive Thanks To Extreme Motorsport Whitburn

Well I had an eventful day yesterday while changing my discs and pads on my STi. I was originally going to change the discs and pads then head to the RR to see what my newly purchased STi blobeye was kicking out.

So the drivers offside pads and disc were changed in about 20 mins or so and all was going well. I then moved over to the drivers nearside and the caliper bolts were seized and no amount of WD40, pentroil and force was moving them. After about 2 hours of managing to turn the bolts back and forth 1/8 of a turn at t time I heard a lovely pinging sound  like something gave way. I first thought I had sheared the bolt, but no, the bolt came out with about half of the threads on the bolt :D

The same happened with the top bolt of the caliper too and on closer inspection I had cracked both bolt holes all the way through the caliper mounts.

I first though the calipers were beyond repair at this point, but called Extreme Motorsport on the off chance they would be able to weld aluminum (which they do!) and fit a couple of heli-coils for me to replace the threads.

I left Glasgow at 2.30ish and got there for around 3.15pm and by 5pm all was sorted and all for £40!

Top guys who are very knowledgeable not only with Evo's but with Scoobies too! They also gave my friend and I a good deal on some dot 4 for both our cars!!! Cant thank them enough!

The car is an 04 plate so its to be expected I suppose. I am just glad I am back on the road and the brakes are spot on again.

Did you get it on the rollers ? If so what did it get

I was going to run it on the rollers but with all the caliper problems, it was put on the back burner. Might try and run it next week sometime.

So we have to return vehicles to the manufacturer!

What i said smart a*** is assemble as in factory with a bit of copper slip on the threads

I think thats what they were saying mate, they were'nt having a dig at you. Merely meant that they probably dont apply copper slip so that they shaft us into taking it back to the manufacturer to have the bolts removed...
