A few wishing to travel as well for a wee nosey so that's good. I think we should keep it round about a fortnight away from Glasgow, I don't know when the other 'closest' meets are don't want to clash with them either, although two meets meeting on a run could be interesting?? Do you follow? Big J says Saturdays are out. I'd like to avoid Friday & Saturday nights too because of family commitments. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are also difficult for me at the moment. I realise this will not suit everyone and there will always be something that clashes with someone's plans. Why don't we provisionally say the third Thursday of the month and see what response we get? I'll leave it in this thread just now till I get some agreement before I start one in Events. Do I need permission to hold a meet? Who want's to be in charge? I'm not mad keen but I'll do it if I need to! Can someone in the know let me know if this is all ok? Please? So, answers on a post here please. The third Thursday of the month will be May 21st. How's that sound for a 7pm meet at the loch and a 730pm run out somewhere? There's a Shell station in Lanark for the obligatory optimax. It would all fit quite nicely?
micra_wrc Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 ...Do I need permission to hold a meet? Who want's to be in charge? I'm not mad keen but I'll do it if I need to! Can someone in the know let me know if this is all ok? Please? ... you dont need permission to hold a meet, you dont need to be a Regional Organiser to organise things. Lanark falls outside the current established regions, so go for it, get some regular meets happening, seems like you've got the numbers for it. finding a time that suits everyone is the hardest part. Once folk start turning up it will take off. like the idea of "two meets meeting on a run", you're close enough to Glasgow for it to work out, though we're looking at July or August time before this could happen, June is out for us. you seem sensible enough, you should take charge if no one else volunteers go for it. imy
badbaz Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 you seem sensible enough, you should take charge if no one else volunteers Thanks Imy, praise indeed from a mega organiser!! Good to know I'm not steaming in without the required authorisation. Just gotta see how many will go for the date to get things up and running. Do you think I should post it in events too just now, just in case?
micra_wrc Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 lol not sure about "mega organiser" sure, start a thread in Events. Make the thread title clear, stating what, where and when. makes it easier for folk to scan their eye down the threads, the next 3 months seem to be a bit busy!
badbaz Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 I'll see what response tonight brings from those who have shown interest already before I start an Events thread. Don't want to jump the gun on the date, though it could be negotiable by popular demand.
st3ph3n Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Worth doing something where there's a double meet? Glasgow lot set off from the usual spot, Lanarkshire massive from somewhere convenient and we meet in the middle?
StrikE Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 If you are going to set a day then i would say maybe Thursday if you want to go down the route of a Glasgow to Lanark joint meet every other month. It's just getting people all together on the same day, Thursday in Glasgow for me is a complete no no, in Lanark should be fine for that day [no kingston bridge to negotiate]. It's your post buddy so you should step up to the mark and be the RO imho. There are a good few scoobies floating around here so numbers should be fine.

Guest big j Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) Change of heart. Any day is suitable Can we do a poll to see what night suits everybody? J Edited May 5, 2009 by big j
badbaz Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Started a thread in Events which if I can work this properly you should find here Linky Don't be shy, get your names on and let's get this off the ground.

Mac You probably would have drove past the Loch to get to the Auction house (Mcrae meeting point), it's on your left hand side just as you leave Lanark.....it's dead easy to find.
