bigal024 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Anyone recommend somewhere I can get the above done on my GB270? Since I've had 5, yes thats 5 Struts on my car replaced in the last year, my tyres have started to wear unevenly. The dealer I got the work done at wanted 2 hrs labour(£) to sort - Just looking for any specialists who would do a good job for a wee bit less. Thanks again guys.
scouk Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 GT Tyres in Forres will do laser alignment for you! Used them twice so far.. No issues! Tel: 01309 674161 Postcode: IV36 26W Last time I was there, the young "apprentices" were drooling over the scoob

scouk Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Cheers Al, will check em out.... How much btw? Varies depending on how much work they have to do.. perticilarly any tight bolts.. But if the struts have been replaced recently everythign should be nice and loose.. Simple check first time after fitting new springs was about £20... The alignment from last time which did need a little bit fiddling and straightening up the steering was just under £40.. (Actually that's cheaper than I thought.... )
tommo9375 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Got my alignment done at GT Tyres in Forres a couple of months ago, good bunch of guys and great service.
scooby222 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 if your down this way well worth giving hypertech a go Al how long before you go for coilovers then?
cullenmin Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I'd also recommend GT tyres in forres, the guy was very interested in my scoob and asked plenty questions, has a genuine interest in cars. I'm sure I was £69 for the alignment, they did have to fiddle about though to get it all back nice and straight. Rich

He used to own a proper! Sierra COssie which he regrets selling to a ned in inverness! Replaced it with a debadged BMW B10 (somethign like that anyway) so yeah guy likes his cars.. I'm sure I was £69 for the alignment, they did have to fiddle about though to get it all back nice and straight. yeah I'm pretty sure the times i've asked for a quote he's said around £70, £100+ if bolts are really stuck and cause problems. But I dug out the last receipt earlier to check and it was £44 inc VAT.. Rates will be cheaper now with 2.5% VAT cut Edited December 17, 2008 by ScoUK
bigal024 Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 if your down this way well worth giving hypertech a go Alhow long before you go for coilovers then? Hi Dave, its gonna keep going back to Subaru until the warranty runs out! It'll prob need doing before I get a chance to head down that way.
scooby222 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 oh dear! you may want to get your dealer to get in a sofa bed for you then!
Smiler AS Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I went to GT Tyres in Forres after getting my coilovers on, they fiddled with my Hawkeye WRXand it was ok. However a month later I went to Progrip (Bonnybridge) and the results coming from him after he altered (and corrected) GT Tyres settings was just simply outstanding.
