scoobyiain Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Take the wheels off and sit in on axle stands. Keep the windows open a fraction.
scooby222 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 as above and buy a optimate trickle charger to keep the battery tiptop
JohnSt Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 you don't need the handbrake on when in the air
RS Grant Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 When you DO bring it out, it would be worth changing the oil and filter and disconnecting the crank sensor... and turning it over a few times (it wont crank into life with this disconnected), once you've done that, re-connect the plug and fire it up. Cheers, Grant
colin_ross Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 i was wondering if theres any tips or important points to be aware of when putting the car away for 6 months or so I take my car off of the road most winters and I also set the car on stands and disconnect the battery. Instead of changing the oil though I normally remove the engine, replace the turbo, drivetrain, fuel system, engine manaagement and replace most of the other major components too. Doesn't everyone?

paul555sti Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Why!? Cal last year i sorn'd mines for 4 or 5 months but to be honest it just sat in the garage on the battery conditioner. I would start it at weekends and let it run for a while. There were days though when it was dry and sunny that i could have been out enjoying it. This year i taxed it for the year so its there ready when i want to use it.
