kaylz_555 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Ok so while deciding on which dump valve to go for I had a look at induction kits on eBay. There's a "powered induction kit" which is supposed to act like turbo (Hmmm..) and reduce anti-lag. This does seem quite interesting but the question is does it really work? Generally speaking, the turbo we've got generally kicks in around 3-6k rpm standard, so how would this compliment the turbo if it only kicks in at 3-6k rpm? Presuming atmospheric pressures 0.9 bar and this induction "turbo" is kicking in at 3krpm along with the actual turbo at 3krpm then am I seriously confused here or is the pressure not possibly increased to above 0.9 (say roughly 1.2 bar) before its even hit the intake of the turbo, and then once its been through the turbo would the pressure not be reduced back to the original pressure since it's determined by the exhaust gases. OR would the pressure (being roughly 1.2 bar) not then damage all the sensors and confuse the ECU providing that the max pressure is set already? i.e. over fuelling etc.... It does say that it spins at 25k rpm (max) producing max pressure of 2.5psi... !!! Have a look for yourself! Does seem a healthy option for impreza sports or non-turbo's. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POWERED-INDUCTION-KI...id=p3286.c0.m14 Edited October 19, 2008 by kaylz_555
dipsy Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Save your money and save up for a Apexi ecu up to 00 or 99 onwards ecutek and mapped for the mods on your car Edited October 19, 2008 by Dipsy
euan_r Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 is this a windup? complete scam if you ask me, probably make car worse with restricion.
terzo neil Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 just give me the money instead and i'll pit a cheap 12v fan in your induction pipe
RS Grant Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 That looks like total cr@p. Dont put it near your car. Save your money... fit a Green Panel Filter for circa £30 to the standard airbox and remove the inner-wing resonator box and stick a dedicated cold air feed into the airbox. Unless you're going for a front mount intercooler, in which case you're kinda forced into using an induction kit, in which case an Apexi Intake is the best one around IMO. Cheers, Grant
marky.t.s Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 wtf is the dump valve attached for,it looks like it's vta before it goes into the pipework???????
bobbyc Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Looks like a boy racer type gizmo Kaylz I'd steer well clear keep your cash for some decent MOD's
thefastone Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 DEAR GOD!!!! treat your car to the non stop express to oblivion... I dont know, but how can a non turbo car be... laggy... most odd... also these people seem to have no concept of how a supercharger works... I mean, how does it work, swithc it on and it just fires the extra air in there??? wow... really otherwise... I'm justr lost for word on this one... really... I mean... just look at the Ts & Cs, my guess is that when it all goes horribly wrong (Which is certain) you are obviously incompetent, they will test it, and would find nothing wrong, you would then have to shell out an inordinate amount of the readies for them to test it... ITS A TRAP I TELL YE'S!!!!!

Guest Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I have heard about people fitting these and the fan fell apart and inded up in the engine so stay away. As stated above get yourself a decent panel filter
scouk Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I see the idea.. And in theory it coudl make a difference but only miniscule and of no use to anyone.. But most importantly.. We have an ait intake intoa filter then what? That is nothing. SO why put a moving part in there! Just think.. if one of the fins on the fan was to break (even get too hot a break).. then what? Thar right, it get's sucked down the intake onto the turbo rattle aroudn teh turbine for a whiel until it's shatters into small sharts, blasted throught he Interfooler at high speed into the engine and possibly out the other end.. I mean yeouch! Ok unlikely to happen but it could! I agree with all that's aid above. Wont have any real affect may even "restrict" airflow if the fan ins't powered.... There are better more appropriate and safer things to spend that sort of money on..! IMHO
martin_allen Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Also, what car do you actually have? Even a cold air induction kit isn't really recommended unless you are going for big power and a front mount intercooler. If the car is a newage, Prodrive don't even recommend putting a panal filter in there either as it is supposed to be excellent as standard. Andy F also told me not to bother with a filter but to spend the money on a hose kit for the intercooler, the standard unit is quiet restrictive and replacign it will have a bigger impact on performance. Good luck. 5t.
kaylz_555 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Calm the ham folks, I wouldn't put it near the car in the first place, we were just talking about the actual theory of it. Just thought I'd let you guys in on the laugh we were having about it

kaylz_555 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 I was suprised to see this.... haha "Huw fun can you have with a turbocharger and a vacuumcleaner" http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rS4mMt5ilYY&...feature=related
