~ ~ Cal ~~
Car seems genuine but not so sure about the seller ( Baz Lord ??? of Performance 1000 on Pistonheads) http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/722021.htm Tatty as hell, the guy sent me pictures after I emailed him. He seems okay and has lots of docs. I Googled his mobile number and he's also selling this under a different name !! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.as...action=bookmark I can get the car pretty cheap I believe but the pics he sent me show that the car needs a right good clean and is hardly in show n' shine condition Thanks Cal Link to comment
RS Grant
Hmmmm, it seems really cheap... might be worth a look if its got a lot of paperwork to back it up and you get a decent vibe off the seller, but also could be worth getting the car looked over by a local well known specialist in the area, or at the very least, the AA vehicle inspection guys who go over the cars completely and send you a long and detailed report on everything. *Edit* - just looked at the 2nd link and from the description, location and username I'd be wary that this isn't just some shady boyracer thats got a bit of cash to buy quick cars, rag them around for a while and then sell them on... colin_ross
I'm guessing he's a trader. Did you notice another evo parked behind the type r in the first pic? He's not really given a lot of info to go on other than it's not had the belts done since it landed in this country. Oh and closed deck??? don't think so. Pics can be misleading, would really need to see it in the flesh. Is it just me or does the passenger door look like it's a different shade of blue? If he's sent pics post them up Cal. the squiggle
Good model the V3 Type R No CDB as above Japan history is a rarity so thats a bonus if genuine and tallies up with the car Still be cautious Link to comment
Guest
that is super cheap worth a look if it's not to far away as u can easily walk away if u don't like the look it. the panels do look different colours but it may just be the camera. Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
Thanks folks - this is a total flocking minefield !! Lancashire is miles away from Aberdeen unfortunately Here is the ( very poor !) pics he emailed me ( possibly direct from a camera phone). I asked him if he had a garage and he said he did ( I have yet to see evidence of a forecourt though !!) I reckon I can get him down to £3.8k but against my instinct says hell no. Pics :- Thanks again folk - the advice is much appreciated indeed CGS Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
The engine bay has been subject to a fair bit of corrosion ----- I asked when it was imported here and he said 2001 which would explain the engine bay condition. You'd think he might have washed the car to take the pics though ! Also a worrying gangsta style lean angle on the drivers chair !!!!!! Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
Gotta love Google - I think this is the guys MLR profile after checking out his mobi number again http://www.lancerregister.com/member.php?u=125585 Link to comment

Also a worrying gangsta style lean angle on the drivers chair !!!!!! According to the DVLA web-site, date of UK registration was 01/02/2003 Taxed until end of the month. Although it looks a bit untidy, and maybe a slight mismatch of colour (really difficult to be sure of that from a photo). It is original, and looks to have all the correct bits. But it does seem to be a bit cheap too. Davy Link to comment
C_WRX
Stick with your instincts then Cal. Yeah you're really wanting one but your in no massive hurray. Long way to go for a look. Think you're almost talking yourself out of it ?? One thing is your doing as much as you can to check everything out so top marks there ! Link to comment
WUZ
Cal - you gotta remeber your only spending 4K and for that you ain't going to find a minter. if some of the panels are a differetn colour then maybe has had a prang in it of it's been repainted for another reason - 95% of Scoobs have had paint in their lifetime (remember your Scoobs and the paint they've had!) - doesn't mean its dodgy. Unless you can get him to take a specific picture of a certain part of the engine there is no easy way to confirm the block type. even after all this............ if your heart says yes but brain still say no THEN WALK AWAY.......... I'm sure you'll find your ideal car sooner or later! Russell Link to comment
RS Grant
Also try finding out which company imported the car, might tell you more about the quality of the car. Cheers, Grant Link to comment
stevenhiggster
http://www.neweraimports.com/carDetails.jsp?carId=317 Check this one out Cal, Newera are a highly rated import outfit and they only ever bring in absolute belters. And I happen to know that they'd accept little over £8k for this car and it's white which just makes it even better Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
Thanks folks - I actually have up to £8-9k to spend in reality but my wife is going ape and wants me to spend £3k.....£4k at a push. She reckons I spent enough on the Audi (£15k) and thinks it madness spending more ( which you can understand but she doesn't have the petrolhead disease that we all have !) I tend to be quite impulsive and strike fast when I see what I want ( this I need to reign in a little though)........I am still emailing the guy for more details. I dont think he is dodgy as such ( certaintly not like the other guys from the 24th Sept.) THANKS AGAIN - I really appreciate the help Cal Link to comment
