thefastone Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Just been into the office, and it was pointed out to me that I'm getting put on a job next week (I got back yesterday) and that the job is likely to last through till September/October... Dont know how the crew changes will work, but I might not even get off till the end... So its looking HIGHLY Unlikely that I'm now going to make the Mcrae gathering... I was going to say to them when I went in that I wanted to have those days clear, but this is a job that I really cant turn down, Saying no would likely be akin to Professional suicide... So that in mind, until I find out what's happening, probably when i get on board, I'll not know till then, but my room might be going spare if anyone needs it... Till then, I'm just chanting the mantra... I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.... Just thinking of the money....
thefastone Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Ooops, didn't think I was events, meant to post this in the main bit... Can someone move it for me please?
st3ph3n Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Think someone must have! Dale - the project I've been working on for 9 months is due to go live on the 18th. The sunday of the gathering is last day of recess for the Parliament and my system has to deliver a crap load of official documentation starting from about a week before that. Now I wrote it so it should work 100% perfect. However - I wrote the damn thing so you never know! Fingers are well and truly crossed on my part.

st3ph3n Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 C'mon now Andy - you've seen how we do things. It's only 10 PRINT "HELLO ST3PH3N" Then someone has to run it again. Need to keep people in a job somehow!

Dont feel down mate! think of all the tax money youre making our wonderful Leaders in London!! You have to make a decision. Are you going to play for the rest of your life or are you going to earn some money to pay for the toys that you want to play wioth but then once you got them youre working too hard to pay for them to play with them. Your decision!! :D :)
thefastone Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Either way, I'm ****ed! Hopefully I'll get my tax back this year though, I failed last year, Heres to hoping that it goes better now!!!
G.Mac Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Alrighty Dale, I go to work on the Wed before the run, I have been working on the Captain to have the ship tied up for the weekend but he cant promise anything! We had one of those ROV things onboard this trip, bloomin thing was scared of the water and broke down before it even got wet! Graeme
andy Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I have been working on the Captain As Administrator of this here website, I must insist on no "sailor talk" of this nature.
G.Mac Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 You and your hyper active imagination Andy (ya big pervert!)
RA Dunk Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 not looking good for me either, im booked on a six day course which ends the same day as the mcrae gathering, was hoping to pull something off by getting the last day off or at least away early from it but now im back offshore ive been talking to some of the lads who have done the course before me and there saying theres a zero chance of getting away on the last day
sczscoob Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Looks like i'm totally F'd aswell. I thought that the ship might have left Korea by now, but it's leaving this time when i go down. 2 Month sail to West of Shetland! Cana wait

speech Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 As I said over on AS that sucks mate - just one of those "unique" problems that we have up this neck of the woods when it comes to trying to organise events..... Oh, and PM awaits on AS about what you have said RE accomodation..........
thefastone Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 (edited) gotcha! Yeah, Ad-hoc, sometimes it works, sometimes, really, it does not... I'd certainly have an easier life with a core crew job right enough, but thats on a platform that your on is it Ciaran? Edited August 4, 2008 by thefastone
