HairyDJ Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 We will stick to the meeting times as they are now and see how we go. As the locals, shouldn't we be setting an example and turning up when the organisers are asking us to, rather than bucking the system? The logistics are going to be manic enough without folk trying to make their own rules up. Early arrivals are bound to wind up the local traffic police - maybe they'll push you back onto the motorway and send you on a loop back down to the next / previous junction to keep you out of the way? Cheers, David
wimpy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) If we are all at the meeting times on time we will hang around for a bit before we leave Bicester. Edited August 13, 2008 by wimpy

Cheers, David I thought the arrival time was 10am so thats when I was planning to get to Prodrive, I only looked on the Gathering web page for timing info and that info is what I posted for the rest of us to plan our day by. Thanks Iain
wimpy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 with a slow drive from Bicester we should arrive between 09:00 and 10:00 but things never run to time. LOL.

As much as I agree Iain, things do rarely run on time, I do think that after already having 2 posts in the Oxon forum regards not turning up before 10am I will be trying my best to avoid turning up before 10am to avoid any upset on the day. Cheers Iain

If you still intend to meet us there then that is fine. 10am arrive at Banbury is fine by me. I was not really sure why we could not arrive before this time.

Big 'D' Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Cant wait I am really looking forward to it now.
wimpy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Lets hope the weather is good no shelter at warwick.
andy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 There seems to be a little confusion over this. The Prodrive facilities at Banbury i.e. the Heritage Centre and SWRT workshops will open at 10am. That does not mean we want everyone arriving at bang on 10am as that would mean chaos. Marshals will be on-site from 8am onwards. You are free to arrive any time after 8am and Marshals will direct you to Parking, but the Prodrive facilities won't open until 10am. We cannot guarantee you will be parked together or leave Banbury together due to the sheer volume of cars expected. Because Prodrive are in an industrial estate we are having to use the parking facilities of other businesses to fit everyone in. You must follow the directions of Marshals to your designated parking area. Thinking about the logistics, I'd rather you arrived early i.e. any time from 8:30am onwards so we can get you parked up rather than delay your journey and arrive at 10am with several hundred others.

Hi Andy I am not having a go at you at all am just a little miffed, as when Wimpy suggested for us to get to Banbury for 9am we were shot down as this was too early and that we should be setting and example and get there for 10am, now you are saying that arriving at 9am would be perfectly ok. Can I ask you to confirm that to arrive at Banbury for 9am is ok so me and Wimpy can stick to our original plan. Many thanks Iain Edited August 14, 2008 by Big 'D'

To be honest, things have been so manic with stickers, shirts and everything else to be sorted it's only in the past couple of days we've started talking about the finer points of the logisitcs in any detail. To me "arrive for 10am" means exactly that. "FOR", not "AT". We'll be on-site from 8am to Marshal. With folk coming from all over there will probably be people there when we get there and still be arriving at 11am so I don't see a problem with arriving at 9 as long as you realise the Prodrive facilities won't open till 10 and there's nowt else to do in an industrial estate!

Hi Andy Thanks for your reply, we are aware that the facilities will not be open until 10am and I am sure that we can find something to do with the time we have waiting for everything to come together I know you guys are really busy and believe me we appreciate your efforts, as without you guys events like this would never happen, so thank you all of you F.A.O. Oxon Crew, I will speak with Wimpy again to confirm our timings and get back to you later but my intention is to stick to the original plan - Bicester for 08:00am and Banbury for 09:00am . Cheers Iain
