Lip Spoiler For Hawkeye....

Alright people, looking for a bit of advice from someone in the know...

Got my eye on a Hawkeye STI and when it comes i'm wanting to stick the Prodrive springs and a lip spoiler on. Only problem is i'm a bit concerned about ripping it off on something too easily.. I get the occasional ferry and obviously they're all different but some of the ramps are brutal.

So if anyone has any experience or advice from the same thing i'd appreciate it, otherwise it could end up a bit of a pointless and expensive exercise...

Also is anyone using the lip spoiler available through the dealers/website etc..? No pictures on the website so can't see if it's any good..

Cheers.

I bought mine from Scot Lowe for £160. Was on the car two weeks and I clipped it and broke it. Repaired the thing only to rattle off of a speed hump at about 5mph and it busted it again. I left it on until I found the time to sort it, however, I hit it several times after that and the thing was beyond repair. Ended up taking it off and binning it. So in my opinion, they are a waste of money - albeit the look really good. I have seen those ferries and would not have thought that my car would ever have made it off and on those without ripping it off.

Hi mate I've got one( Scott Lowe) too and Prodrive springs all be it only had the springs a short period of time. Think John's Tiens, which he had at the time are a bit lower than Prodrive so maybe not as bad clearance? Never had it on a ferry either. From an esthetic point of view I think it improves the front no end. For me it's a winner. As for the dealer one, way too much cash. Particularly if there's a chance you're going to scone it on the ramp of a ferry.

had to screw our one back on a couple of times it does scrape in the multi story car parks but its still ok

Yeah that too. It does look great, but driving is a butt-clenching experience with one - can't be bothered with that.

I've got a 56 wrx with PFF7 18" wheels and prodrive springs. Also got the Scott Lowe splitter fitted and have only once scrubbed the splitter coming out of a car park due to the difference in road level. The springs only reduce it by 20mm.

Up to you though.

Had my Hawkeye for just over a year and my Scott Lowe Splitter is still in perfect nick, I've got Prodrive Springs fitted and run 18" OZ Ultraleggeras.

Sounds like you would be better to go without it if you are worried about damaging it. Better safe than sorry. I know where I can and can't go in my car locally, so if I need to use some of the not so splitter friendly car parks I just take her indoors car :D

had a revolution one on mine for a year which has split into 3 bits following an argument with an overly aggressive rabbit and a nasty car park entrance but had no probs with speed bumps and have prodrive springs. ordered an ht autos one now as their injection plastic as opposed to fibreglass so should be much more bump resistant and the front looks wrong without one

I loved my Scott Lowe one for my blobeye. It had an argument with a speed bump which wounded it, then it had an argument with a railroad crossing which killed it. Lasted nearly 3 years on the car, most of which was with the Tein springs on it and it was lower than a snakes belly at the front. Had a good few car park scrapes with it too.

But boy did it look good.

Yeah, they really do. I was loo0king at the front of my car tonight and it just doesn't look good or right. Need to try and come up with a solution other than a splitter cause that would be another £160 down the tubes.

Was it the Rail crossing at motherwell bridge stephen??? i live near there and have just bought a HT Autos one(yet to fit) dont have springs yet so i reckon i should be ok.!!!!

It was that rail crossing. Which I must say I'd taken plenty of times before. I wouldn't even have said I took it TOO exhubirantly, but it made a SCCCCRUNNCHHH noise and I thought nothing of it. But when I got to the first speed bump in Bothwell I realised there was a definite problem.

The Tein's drop the car a bit more than the prodrives do also.

I'll have a look now, but funds are low after sorting out cash for my tints, ARB and graphics, but will perhaps take the plunge in the near future, cheers mate. Cheers mate!

I have the HT autos splitter and tein springs..... had it on for about 200 miles.. came to a speed ramp very slowly one day.. and just split it clean in half.

just repaired it with some fibreglass and it looks good as new.. however it scuffs over nearly every ramp i get to, and fair few chunks missing from the underside of it.

Have had to "refit" mine on my RB320 twice now, multi storey car parks and speed bumps, i hate them.

Aye see, nae worth it man. I was thinking about something like you see on the DTM cars, like a flat piece of plastic... like this:

Finishes off the front end, but doesn't make it any lower.

Aye, maybe not that far out, but something along those lines becasue the front end of the Hawkeye minus the splitter jsut doens't look right! That would maybe help, a little, who knows? ;)

Revolution Motorsport are doing theirs for £130ish, went ahead and got one anyway, got it fitted and got the car today and it's cracking, wouldn't be without it, looks amazing..
