thewelsho Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 (edited) Couple of little vids from the day. Great day, but precious little in the way of events to make the clips more interesting; which is probably a good thing. seafar99 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Cheers John, i think i need better brakes.............and more power. Craig.
thewelsho Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 Cheers John, i think i need better brakes.............and more power.Craig. Aye, I know the feeling. Yesterday was the first run out with the new (2nd hand) front Brembos and I have to say, they were mucho better than my previous standard 4-pots. Not so much that they are more efficient, although they are, but they are more durable. On the last track day I warped and heat fractured my front disks, effectively trashing them in the space of a few laps, as I was running with the new power. I want more power too! Ha! Shameful is it not? I need to invest in an oil cooler first of all though.
Boydie. Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Sounds fantastic John - KH is alot tighter when you're on track than it looks from the sidelines!
pmacFTO Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 (edited) I need to invest in an oil cooler first of all though. How hot did your oil get and what is danger level? (altho I know it depends on what oil and viscosity etc). Edited March 17, 2008 by pmacFTO
thewelsho Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Sounds fantastic John - KH is alot tighter when you're on track than it looks from the sidelines! Na, its plenty wide in most parts
thewelsho Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 How hot did your oil get and what is danger level? (altho I know it depends on what oil and viscosity etc). I let it get to 120 degrees (which is in the red on my gauges) and then I run a couple of cooling laps then into the pits.
st3ph3n Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 John, where is your oil temp sensor located? Is it the donut on the filter or is it in the hole above cylinder 3? I run mine above number 3 which is supposed to be the hottest and didn't reach 110 on track. Are you running one of the different thermostats too as I found that reduced my temps.

It's not on the filter, its on a sensor under the alternator. I belive some sort of nut was removed and the sensor screwed in in its place. No thermostat, no. Would the 2.5 over the 2.0 make any difference? Plus I'm pulling 400ft/lbs of torque, dunno if that would help explain it. The oil levels were fine and I run Motul 15/50. I might PM RS Grant and see what his gauges where reading as he is running similiar figures and the 2.5.
jimser Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 john if your going to buy an oil cooler make sure you get 1 with a thermostat
thewelsho Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 john if your going to buy an oil cooler make sure you get 1 with a thermostat Much is all this going to cost me, any idea?
jimser Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Much is all this going to cost me, any idea? oil cooler about£160-£180 in line thermostat about £50-£70 or milsport do this for a classic http://www.milsport.co.uk/cgi-bin/jump_nav...resource_id=365 dont see why it wouldnt fit a new age?
