marky.t.s Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 well i never thought photography could be so annoying/pain in the a$$,took around 200 pics ,binned about 90%,been through every setting, every" f" number, and i still cant take a decent photo,.....so a bit of practice is needed. Anyway, had a good day oot,dry weather for a change, good banter, and cheers to Derek (Urabu5) for the loan of the 'fitba' to keep the wee man and his cousin occupied. Heres the best of a bad lot........
sti pretender Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Had a great day, car was running well no issues. Good to see so many scoobies on track and in the carpark. Got a few tips from Terzo Neil (Thanks ) for next time, lines are ok just need to brake later. Car just needs more power and I really should get a set of track tyres. Anyone any pics of me?
terzo neil Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 was out with the welso, paul 9irish boy with caged ra) and sti above good driving, but braking a wee bit too early

thewelsho Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Had a great day, car was running really well, no issues - yet! Last time the piston broke the day after the track day, hope that doesn't happen again. Nice to see all the usual suspects and put some faces to forum names - namely RS Grant. Thanks to all who made nice comments about the car and my driving . And thanks to the guy in the pit lane who, while looking at my car said, "I hear the guy who owns this is a bit of a nutter." Ha! Dunno if that is a compliment or not. Shot some video and will post up some clips in the next day or two. Just watched Imy's "moment" on the plasma TV, haha! Great stuff.
the squiggle Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Bloody fantastic day up at the Hill Big thanks to Imy for letting me loose round the hill, the RA goes like a bloody rabbit on PCP. Good bit of ar$e out action at the hairpin, god i love DCCD and a sweet handling chariot, the a*** came out with pure torque in third gear Big thanks to Higgy for taking Dougie out, knew it would be an experience he would enjoy. But Higgy you are still a nutter Bigger thanks to JohnS for the excellent organisation of an excellent day. Good to catch up with all the old faces and some new ones, met a Doctor that has a surgery in Dunscore that i used to deliver to a good few years back. Small world or what but good meet you Dr Impreza with the P1. Bit p1ssed off with the Sky Blue Lotus owner that overtook Imy on the right hand side heading into the hairpin. Would have had a go back in the pitlane but spotted that there was 2 Sky Blue Lotuses in the paddock and i could not remember which one it was that done the shoddy manouvere. GrantF. loving the pops, bangs and the performance PaulC, need to be getting myself a wee shot of that car of yours, it certainly looks like good fun. Nice STI hatch in the car park, think it might have been Duncs from Hypertech Good to see the Playsatan contingent, will someone please buy Coulty's car and put a ruddy smile on that boys face Thanks to Welsho for the hurl in the JW340, certainly goes well, very well but classics rule. Loving your style into Duffus Thanks to the big man upstairs for the weather, could not have been more ideal for both spectating and for induction temps Biggest hoot of the day for me personaly was coming out the hairpin sideways closely followed by headin up the main straight with my right indicator on to allow the Blue Evo to pass, still never got past me by the bridge and eventually i had to lift to allow him past, Early STI RA 1, Evo 0. Thanks to Ally-bs mate for the Santa Cruise donation, no need sir and i hope you enjoyed tyhe lap or two in a Classic Ra, maybe temt you out of the Porker into a proper car Thats all for now folks. Blue Bomber is getting itchy feet for some hill action

micra_wrc Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 (edited) i had a great day on track... i'm still grinning yeah had a wee "moment" going into the right hander before the chicane too fast and the back swung out 90 deg to the left... managed to catch it, the car pinged back, was facing the right way and managed to get round the chicane lol dont think there were any cars around me, it happened too quick and was more concerned about not rolling into the gravel. unnerved me for a bit but got into my stride again. must admit the best time i was out was around 3pm, 2 hours into the session... all the fast cars had either broken or were in the pits and i had a good couple of laps without having to pull over and let other cars pass. nice to see and speak to those I managed to speak to, old and new faces thanks to JohnS for organising another fab trackday thanks to ally-b's pal Donald for the donation for the pax lap thanks to Grant for doing all the pre-track checks for me and the coaching around the track even though I got told off for pointing at Spooks and Dale when I drove past them... ScoobySounds Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 RIGHT! lets see.. where to start! Firstly thanks to all you good folks that I met and were so helpful to me on my first day out! There's no ACTUAL pictures of me on the track yet.. but I WAS there.. I can prove it with the gearbox rebuild bill that is to follow from todays fun... explaination; APPARENTLY the 99/2000 wrx is famous for 3rd gear cooking, so thats what happened to me today - so quite an expensive day out, but so much fun while it lasted ..Its just a motorsport learning curve I guess! Also - does anyone know who was in the BLUE WAGON? Because they will have a highly amusing video of me exiting the pit lane, and spinning off after the second corner! He was right behind me with the camera rolling.. i'd love to see that! .. I had got used to the instuctors laps and forgot to account for tyres cooling down. Pure inexperience really. circuit fee £96 fuel £50 octane booster £20 slicks hire £75 30 mins of pure enjoyment: feckin pricey as it turns out! after this fiveundredquid rebuild. live+learn. I will be back, and i'll try to bring some more talent next time. I'll get some on eBay or something.
