JohnSt Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Garbox now rebuilt, found some new seals of the correct flavour in stock at S&S services in Ayr, with the help of a friend who works in Ayr managed to get them back here for tonight. Kenny gave me a hand again and the box is more or less complete now. Tomorrow going to fit box, new Prop etc. so that should complete the rear drivetrain. The car is booked into ProGrip on Tuesday for Allignment though it won't be running, so it will have to be pushed onto the ramp and back off again. Spoke to John today and he, as usual, is being extremely accomodating. Settings are a secret so don't ask as a boot in the b**s usually offends The only thing I'll say is we've gone for softer springs than the old car, with a different ratio front to back, and the roll bars are considerably heavier than previously and relative ratio front to back also different Then it's up to Andy do work his magic Edited May 14, 2008 by JohnSt
fai17 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Looking forward to see it finished John.. Mines it nearly there and looks like i'll be going to ProGrip for some fettle in the aligment department too. When is it getting mapped?
JohnSt Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) Looking forward to see it finished John..So am I !!! Mines it nearly there and looks like i'll be going to ProGrip for some fettle in the aligment department too. Excellent choice !! Can't Greirs do your allignment ? When is it getting mapped? That's a secret too, Andy won't tell me Edited May 15, 2008 by JohnSt
fai17 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 It's ok i don't tell Andy either!!! Greers can set the camber but i prefer laser of some sort for the alignment.
JohnSt Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) Slow progress, would be happier if everything took less time but we are getting there, Craig was worrking at the back today, but hard to take a pic because of garage layout. John McG and I were at the front installing engine. ] Sorry for the breif description, but I'm 'Knacked' !! ---john--- Edited May 18, 2008 by JohnSt
JohnSt Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 KennyS was up helping again tonight so a fair bit was acheived. Pedal box is in. Brake lines are all in save a couple of missing copper washers. Brakes are a temporary install as the Apexi is going back in for it's first event, so no need to delete the servo for the Simtek yet (though this also won't be necessary short term) Intercooler hanging on bumper, though still to be plumbed. Kill switch pull cable in there, though only 'cause I was mucking about near the end of play Wiper motor and linkage also installed.
fiestajohn Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 If I said Kames in 3 weeks would it sound preposterous ? Do you still think you will make Kames John? Or is Golspie or Doune more likely?
JohnSt Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 Do you still think you will make Kames John? Trying to

seafar99 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 After a long stint last night (Thursday 11.30pm) and another mega stint this afternoon we are the thickness of a cigarette paper away from having it ready for Kames tomorrow. So with another 5-6 hours left i would say that if anybody's wanting a closer look then Kames is the place to be tomorrow.

seafar99 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 ...........and if Carlsberg made number plates then this has to be the one.

seafar99 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Shakedown day today threw up quite a few issues but nothing major fell off, and considering it had only driven on to the trailer before getting introduced to Kames Racing circuit it went very well. L555BAM
