paul555sti Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 John i take it the car is going to be on track more this year with the larger fuel tank?
JohnSt Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 As Craig has pointed out, there is a small slot at the back, it works using a Ram effect. It will of course induce drag, but I've come close to puking with the heat in the past, so maybe a small price to pay

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Love it ! Where will it end ? Dig out the fishnet fire proof suit for weight reduction ? Run the beast on jet kerosene. Keep the thread flowin' and the pics coming
arch Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) JetA1 wont be any use as its like diesel but if it was a seat leon in the touring cars set up then maybe Edited March 6, 2009 by Arch
JohnSt Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 My mate JohnMcG was up tonight and we pulled the Engine and Gearbox. Engine is on it's way to Kirky to be installed in Arch's car. Gearbox is off to Kenny Brown in Hillington to change the 3/4 drive gears and dog ring. Dogs are worn on 4rth gear and it won't stay in on full throttle, so needs replaced before the season starts. I rarely use 4rth on Sprints/Hills, but expect to use it a little more this year Sorry no pics, but who want's to see one of an empty engine bay anyway ? ---john---

terzo neil Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 will you be running at any of the test days this weekend ?

JohnSt Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) Took the Lateral Performance sump off my old engine tonight. (Engine is going to a new home ) so that I can install on the new one coming (Pics to follow ) First time I've seen inside, well impressed at the baffling and the welding is first class, if your going to be going round in circles in your car fast, get yourself one of these It's been on the car a whole season and I haven't seen a whiff of oil surge. terzo neil Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 hurry up with the pics pity you are not running this weekend
Andy N Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hows tricks John, your cars looking great. What sump is it you have fitted? just fitted a hyperflow to mine yesterday which also (by apperence anyway) is a work of art. Was unsure when looking for a sump what to go for as your hear so many horror stories.
JohnSt Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Hi Andy, It's just a Standard pressed steel pan with Marks alloy baffling fitted, from the out side I'm liking yours much more Baffling is really good though, 'it does what it says in the tin' so to speak You are right to be sceptical aout some of the offerings out there, I have an ARC cast alloy sump in the garage I bought a couple of years ago, externally it's well Gucci, inside is a different matter though, it's a piece of crap !!!!!!! Wouldn't put it on my road car. ---john---

Agreed, the reason it's still in the garage is I would not sell it to someone else, shockingly bad !! The Lateral offering is excellent, cost effective and works !! ---john---
JohnSt Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Did a little more work in the last couple of days, engine bay now devoid of the bit that goes Vroom Vroom Replaced Newage STi Rack with a 2.2 turn Spec C Rack Modified Steering linkage with Classic Spline on one end and Newage on the other
the squiggle Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 You could easily eat your dinner off the inside of that shell. Given the amont of hours you have spent on her i expect you will have done so at some point Like your wee attention to detailpartslike the linkage
thefastone Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Out of interest john, why are you uising an newage rack instead of a classic rack? (no need to ask about the spec C tho...) but is there not a quick rack for a classic too?
