thewelsho Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Thinking about a set of Coilovers. Any idea where I can get these, much it cost including fitting, and what brands to go for etc.?
the squiggle Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Thinking about a set of Coilovers. Any idea where I can get these, much it cost including fitting, and what brands to go for etc.? Tein make good coilovers for the UK roads Think Hypertech sells Tein Anything up to £2500
RS Grant Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Also explore the adjustable 'standard' shocks option.. to go along with your ?Tein? Springs. I've had coilovers (few mates have had them too) and to be honest, although they were expensive and a bit bling (fully adjustable, etc) they are just toooo hard for our crap roads IMO. The best set-up I've had is damping adjustable shocks and lowered & uprated springs, enough to fiddle with to tailor to your own style, but not too harsh for day to day use............ however, if you are planning to use the Scoob as a toy and a shed-load of trackwork, then coilovers may come into their own as track tarmac tends to be snooker table smooth, specially compared to UK roads, so you wont notice/care about a stiff ride. Cheers, Grant
ScoobySounds Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 i'm going to be doing this very soon as well.. duncan recommended the tein super street with upper mount £893 from tein. no clue how difficult or how much they are to fit though. definately open to other suggetions though, so i'm gona keep an eye on this thread.
gus the bus Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 (edited) John, I went for D2's imported from New Zealand. For your car you are looking @ £720 (delivered). they are pillow ball mount, 36 point settings for firmness (damping) and height adjustable by upto 120mm. Piss easy to fit and mine arrived in 3-4 days :icon_rendeer: after a wee bit of adjustment in the damper settings (which is easy to do) I've now got them working perfectly for my liking. thewelsho Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 Thanks guys, thats a lot to think about. I'm lookingto spend no more than £700 so I guess that limits my choice. I'll maybe talk to Duncan about those street oens and those adjustable doo dahs that Grant mentioned. Thanks again, J
