Double Zero Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I'm posting this up for my bro inlaw Dtabbitt(Dave) as he came off the M876 tonight towards Larbert he lost the rearend of the car at around 50mph and ended up on the embankment and very lucky to miss the tree as you will see in the picture's,doesn't seem to be to much damage but a closer inspection will tell the truth, anyway he and the missus are away to the hospital for a check up,hope all goes well dave and get back on the road soon (BTW The police did say that that part of the road is in need of resurfacing so if anyone is using this road take care) Stevie

Gus same here Steve,i nearly lost a transit and a renault master van at that bend, its well dodgy it tightens as you go round and is always slippy when its damp.i hope it doesnt make him decide "enough is enough" with the classic .
st3ph3n Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Hope they're both alright most importantly. What direction was that headed? Know the 876 but can't think what part is in the picture.

cullenmin Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Ouch, very very lucky, I'm glad both of them are ok, could have been a lot worse!

colzo Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hope Dave and his Mrs are ok and didn`t get too much of a scare. Send them my best wishes Stevie.
david_taylor Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Cheers for the comments guys. Went up to Falkirk infirmary, and the next thing they have strapped me to a spinal board and called a ambulance to take me through to Stirling. Man are they things unformfortable. Anyway, got out at 12 oclock, just muscle damage, and advised to take it easy for a few days. Warned I will be real sore tomorrow! As Stevie said, damage looks like rear suspension, axle and wheels are fecked. Small dent on rear quarter. Waiting for call back for it to get picked up. Managed to drive it into my garage. Bad news....if its a right off I am getting something more sensible. Its just been grief for the past few months. Back to a mondeo maybe. Dave
alank Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 picture of silver classic being loaded onto a recovery truck brought back some crap memories... glad all involved are ok!!
paulc555 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Glad your both okay mate....hope you get the motor sorted.... take care
irn_bru Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Use the M876 every day.Miles of it are in a bad state(remind me what i pay road tax for?).Glad to hear everyone is relatively ok. Don't buy a Mondeo, buy a 'newage'!!
david_taylor Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Looking for some opinions here. I noticed the dent in the passenger rear 1/4 last night, thought it had hit something. But then in the pics I noticed it was also in the drivers side, which is weird as it did not hit anything. Went out to my garage for a look and its like that on both sides. That makes me think, with the strutt brace, that I have bent the whole rear of the chassis. Which would mean a write off I think. Any ideas or comments?
cullenmin Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Take out your back seats and inspect the strut tops, by the look of the camber on that rear wheel, your dampers are well fooked and I would say your struts are well out of place too. Possible a write off!
boris b Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Nightmare buddy . Glad everyone is okay tho.
superstar_tradesman Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Nightmare dave, glad tou're ok. was it the bump when the road joins the bridge that kicked the back end out?
david_taylor Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Nightmare dave, glad tou're ok. was it the bump when the road joins the bridge that kicked the back end out? Think so, plus the raod was really greasy. Gutted, but think its going to the car park in the sky.
darren_connor Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Glad you and the mrs are OK Dave, I had same experience in my old saxo. Was going round a bend that I drove every day and i could have done it with my eyes closed but this day it wasnt meant to be !! Back end spun round crossed the road hit kerb and up onto embankment. Wasnt much damage to car but I lost all confidence in it and my driving ability!! Best thing to do if car is a write off is strip it, sell all parts and then buy a newage impreza !! If you go back to a "normal" Car you will find it weird Anyways glad your all ok!!

That bump where the road meets the bridge is well bad and has caused a few smashes over the years. I take it you think the chassis is bent dave?

Did at 1st, but looked again yesterday and its only one side with the dent. strutt has probably popped out. Should find out today if its fixable.
