Another good day once again with a very good turnout, sadly spoiled a bit by the flamin rain, was such a fine day yesterday as well. Even got to display the SIDC flag next to my car [;)] Hope the guy with the white Newage who went off and into the fence at the first bend isn't too badly out of pocket, looked like a few bent panels unfortunately [:D]

Spectating today as my V3 Sti hasn't come out of storage since last winter[:|] Weather was somewhat damp, track action was good, few unfortunate off's - Carl's spin was impressive. One thing I noted was that the Evo's were much quicker at getting the power down out of the corners, the scoobs that tried this ended up with lots of opposite lock and having to back off.

The Mini with the VTec engine looked bloody frightening.....but good fun

Any of the cars on the track today running serious (350bhp+) power?

It was a good day out, might have to take my car a blast round the track once iv sorted out the handling and get some more horses into it.

Had a good run over the cabrach on the way home as well, might have to take a run over there after one of the meets !!

Glad everyone enjoyed the day - it worked out very well despite the poor weather in the afternoon. Excellent turn out of cars, and the show and shine gets harder to judge each year, especially when it's wet. Some stunning cars on display though and also on the track. Very well done to all the winners!

Huge list of thanks starts here:

Rob D and IainC, Davie (SIMBO) for arriving early, setting up the PA system, clearing the track, marshalling, timekeeping and PA announcing to give me a break from time to time.

Carl Davey, Marty, STI Pretender (and possible some others I couldn't see from the control tower), for marshalling all day and helping out in other areas like gate collection [:D]

Special mention to Spooks and Rosie for setting up the marquee and doing a splendid job on the gate, raising a great amount of money (over £500!) for Santa Cruise.

Also thanks to everyone who stayed on for a while at the end to help clear the site afterwards, despite the rain being at it's heaviest all day!

The only disappointing things were:

a) The weather that was fine and dry at the start of the day, but got worse towards the end of the afternoon.

:D That a couple of cars got hurt on track due to the slippery conditions.

and c) That despite repeated requests throughout the day, we didn't get more volunteers to assist with the marshalling. Even helping out for just 20 minutes to allow the others to grab a quick break would have made a big difference. It's impossible to run events like this without a group of people to run the day, and just a few more people would have made a big difference.

It was great to meet so many new faces, lots of old and familiar ones, and we'll hopefully have one or two more events at this venue next year, when the weather will be nicer [;)]

Just a reminder that the Capri Club have invited us all out there on Sunday 2nd September for a repeat performance, and we've got Knockhill again on Saturday 15th September (though not that many driver slots remianing now - down to under 10!).

Cheers

John

Thats what electronics can do for you, this is what i love about the scooby so much of it is left to the driver alone  [:D

Sadly not able to attend myself, did not get in from work till around 11am and with heavy rain and a 150 mile trip decided to leave it ..glad you still had some phun chaps ...hope the chap with the white scooby ain't to upset but i suppose thats the risk you take.

Sadly there's a bit of a background to that.. For one, that was the first corner.  If that's not bad enough he'd just won the prize for best modified car (from what I heard) he just went out on track for a quick spin. (excuse the bad tasted pun )

Faith is a bad influence, all I keep hearing was 'go faster Daddy'. Future petrolhead me thinks.[:D]

Had a great day, wife and kids loved it. Glad to help out with the marshalling, as John said a few more helpers would have been good, as I was 3 hours before I manage on track[:D], but then cause I was helping I got to queue-jump[:P].

Nice to so many nice cars and meet lots of members and non-members.

Had a great day, even with the weather spoiling things later in the afternoon [st] great banter in the packed S.I.D.C. marque as usual, especially with Jac, Gmac and Higgy entertaining the masses in their own special ways. lol lol !! and dare i say our naughty R.O. [:P]

More than happy to help with the Marshalling, even tho it curtailed my track time [:D]

Good to see a few faces from the central belt up there supporting this top class event, thinking of coming back up for the Capri Club Day, now that will be interesting if its damp [:D]

Praise must go to John S. and the rest of the unseen team who made this possible [Y] and finally really sorry to see the two guyz that came to grief , gutted springs to mind, hopefully they`ll be back in all their glory sooner rather than later.

Heres to next year [:D]

Marty.

p.s. some great pics and video posted too [~] [au] [Y]

Brilliant day out and very well organised for a worthy cause [Y]

Didn't get up there till late and it was peeing it down, but it made

good fun on the track. managed a 71.6 with r888 in the wet.

Thanks higgy for the pax laps in the black beast, that thing really

can shift and looked a bit of a handful. grate fun [:P]

Just thought about it last night but it might be worth removing the couple of pictures of the crashed car on track as you never know if the guy may be claiming from his normal car insurance (looked like plenty of work required to sort) and even with reg plates removed it kind of stands out a bit from the norm.

I had great fun yesterday so thanks to John and the team for putting together a cracking day out. [H]

Callum (white Evo 9 driver) has been pestering me to start sprinting the Scoob and i have to say i enjoyed my first outing on track with it. Credit to both Callum and Tony in the Evos for showing everyone how it should be done. No excuses here, both those cars are RS models (Callums is an MR RS, Tonys is an RS Extreme IIRC) so no AYC.... just better diffs. [:D] Seriously, the Imprezas DCCD is a handful in the wet and with hindsight i could've done with winding it forward a touch more on my wet lap to assist with my lack of talent. Even so i was delighted with a 70.07 which was within a second of the Evos best wet laps.

It was disappointing not to see more Scoobies on track at an SIDC event and also sad to hear John having to practically beg for someone to let Rob away from the stopwatch so he could go on track.

Infiltrator, my car was last dyno'd with 280bhp but has had a 3" de-cat, Newage STi TMIC and some other little tweaks done since then so say ~310bhp on a good day. Callums Evo is ~380bhp.

Great pictures Simon/ScoUK/MrToad, i'll be stealing some of those for my website update this month. [:P]

Thanks to John S, Ron and everyone else who helped organise the event, I had a ball.  I hereby offer to marshall or whatever next time we have an event.  I cant believe I forgot to turn in for the figure of eight (three times))[:S] - there was a lot of adrenalin going on!! [8o|]

John you said my car was the quietest on track, thats cos its got the equal length headers and std exhaust.  JDM Sti9 Twin scroll turbo etc including almost bald semi slicks which caused understeer.[st].  Either that or my driving sucks [:P]

I just found it funny when you did it after me specifically telling you before you went out on track [:D] Mind you, you did have a bit of a moment coming round the bend before the grandstand so you could be excused [:D]

I know, just wanted to plant the foot and get it sliding everything else went out of my head!!

As Roger has said big thanks to John S for inviting us MLR folks along[:P]... was a great day out/ and the banter was fierce. Gutted about the off's but this is all part/parcel when you track your car, Sad but true..Just hope its all sorted out soon with little cost's involved.

Was nice to put some names to faces[H] and lets hope we can can hold more events together in the future.
