As most have said mate get something smaller, im old enough to be your Dad and if you asked me to insure a scoob for you, you would get a sharp clip round the ear! I had just passed my test at 17 and i thought i could drive, i borrowed a mates 2.3Ghia Cortina (Whats one of those i here you say) in its day it was a powerfull car. Well long story short i was driving way beyond my capabilities and lost control, i clipped a Kerb, the car went across the on coming traffic straight through a brick wall then it ended up in some poor old girls front room! Im not saying you will do that but it happens, my mate spent a week in hospital, and it took me 4 years to pay it all back as i wasnt insured.
I got a qoute for a lad from work 19years old just passed his test and for a 1.0 saxo, the cheapest i could get him was £1640 on a Coventry post code!
Take the advice given here, my first car was a Hillman Imp but you will be hard pushed to find one now lol
