oh BTW
make sure you dont hit anything
last year one of the group i was with had a mr2 turbo with 450bhp in it, drove it all the way there, started his first lap of the ring, managed 5 corners and engine bay fire, gutted the rear half of the car, he parked it on the side of the track, they came put out fire, recovered car, cleaned grass, redone grass and charged him a nice 1700 euro's to be payed instantly
and another person on track clipped the barriers 3 times in a big sideways spin, he got charged 3700 euro's for damage to barriers, grass and kerbing and recovery
i managed just over 140 mph down the longest straight and will being passed by the big power boys like i was in 2nd gear
-
no worries davie
as far as i remember from last year, he bought a 4 lap card, when he came in from 1st lap, they barred him due to the exhaust noise as cards are non refundable, he had to sell his card to someone, but never got all the money back and he was there for weekend, and this was friday evening session
i am at spa f1 circuit for a trackday the week after you lot go to the ring, then i am off to the ring after that for 4 days, should be intersting, got new spoiler for rear for higher speed stability
got the camera ready for car, will be fun to go flat out up au rogue in the scooby
-
We saw no-one being tested for noise level when we were there.
We had made sure that our scoobs were not too loud. (you don't want to be driving over 1000 miles with too loud and droning exhaust anyway)
You should be ok providing you take it easy in the parking lot and que and don't rev your engine too much.
The official limit for the ring is below so if your exhaust is excessive you takes your chances.
Vehicles which do not comply with the noise threshold values entered in the vehicle registration papers with regard to the noise emissions from stationary and moving vehicles shall be banned from driving on the
track. Furthermore, the noise threshold value is not allowed to exceed the level in accordance with the near field measurement method (95 dB [A]) and the maximum sound-power level (140 dB [A]) stipulated by
Nürburgring Automotive GmbH, measured when the vehicle is driving past. Nürburgring Automotive GmbH conducts sound measurement surveys on the course, and reserves the right to exempt vehicles from
the tourist drives if they exceed the above noise threshold values, even if their noise threshold values do not exceed those stipulated in the vehicle registration papers. Vehicles with defective or illegally altered
exhaust systems shall also be banned.
was there last year, roughly same dates in september and there were random noise testing and there must have 6 cars in total barred from entering the ring that weekend
plus saw spotters at the vantage points taking notes
take your chances, long drive for nothing if caught

4 people cant wrong mate...
Paul555STi, BobbyC, wrxstevie & Me (maybe its a conspiracy)
-
join the club paul
they done it with me as well, no expanation
-
thanks Al
thats why i now run a merc 208cdi for work with the new company i work for and thats why i have 2 scoobs to play with, as my cars are not daily drivers, and only put fuel in when i need it
classic has a andyf map, done over 1100 miles on 2.75 tanks of fuel going to south of france in it 3 years ago, cruising at 120km/h on french motorways
newage has a prodrive ecu, and can get nearly 400 miles to 1 tank
as for insurance, on my 2 cars on multicare policy and not daily drivers grand total of £587 fully comp on both for a year
-
it is all done to injector times, sitting at 55mph will be around 5ms, according to onboard monitor display, sitting at 80mph with an injector time of 3.4ms wil use less fuel on light throttle than cruising at 55mph, efficinet band of any engine is around 3000rpm, i can get 37mpg sitting at 80mph with an injector time around 3.5ms and nearly 400miles to 1 tank of fuel
if i sit at 55mph and drop to 4th gear to bring revs up to around 3000 rpm, my injector time drops to around 3.8ms instead of 5.6ms, thus use less fuel

right guys
had enough with the forum and stuff
time to move on
-
subaru................... dont be so bloody silly
better still fit that spoiler as standard on the new subaru
-
get a diesel for the commute and keep the impreza for the weekend
-
I seriously doubt this a place you want to be Neil!
Perhaps if SIDC cant deliver what you expect, then maybes a diesel generator club might be more your thing
when i finished for the day, i unwind and dont think about generators, i have a life else where, i just drive the cars now for my enjoyment
took the classic out for a run tonight as it is getting paintwork done it
-
I wouldn't say an outrage peter, wanted to find out why and why the masses weren't told about it until the things happened and the posts deleted and i have had pm's deleted as well
don't agreee with it but they know my feelings about it
-
That is why I rejoined to support the place even though I don't really benefit financially.
As I said before, restricting the for sale section to paid members is fine, but the wholescale deleting of virtually every post in the section was just daft and bound to get peoples backs up. Now it is stated that it was a mistake. Why then was there not an announcement to that effect?
The whole issue was badly handled all round, but it is time to put it to bed.
As James has said, he doen't really benefit from the membership, in my eyes why pay for something that you dont get any benefits out of, might as well just give your money away instead or throw it to the wind
as he also said why no annoucement prior to what was happening
-
We have to listen to our paying members are they are the ones that make this place possible, if they call for change then we have to listen. We are never going to please everyone but hopefully we will please the majority. A mistake was made on the For Sale section as Gus has apologised for already mistakes do happen.
Neil you said in the past that you weren't renewing because you didn't get a benefit from paying now we change the forum to benefit our paying members we get slated. You keep saying you aren't interested in the discounts, trackdays or shows so what benefit would you like to see the club offer that would make it worth paying.
Be assure we are putting in a lot of time and hardwork to make the club better.
Now play nice or I want my centre section back.
it would be nice to know what changes are going to happen first before they happen, so we can make our own minds up first, if willing to stay or move on.
as for not renewing the membership, been an active supporter over the years, not intersted in track days, done that for 5 years competeing in the scottish sprint championship, won a few trophies and awards, spent loads doing it, not interested in discounts as you know i get good deals on servicing for my cars, the last show was for the picture for the mag at knockhill hairpin, was actually bored stiff after an hour being there and wanted to f... off but couldnt get out, would have cut my wrists as it would have been better fun
dont think the club can offer me anything for the membership, i would have been going to the nurburgring again this year with or without kenny wrx organising it
as you know, myself and craig mcd was nearly going to renew membership as he said this now leaves a bitter taste as he has put it
-
Ask the other user Neil?
I did, he doesnt know why either
-
in my emails and notifications on top right of this bb
lets say it was user x
user x has started a personell conversation with you
click on the notification and it states topic is deleted, you cant reply to this message
-
it says topic unavailable, thread deleted, you can't reply to this message
lucky for me it is in my emails
it would be nice of someone to tell me why it was deleted
and i have got to agree with him
-
i had a private message from another user and had it deleted before i could read it, which i am not happy about
is the admin now deleteing posts and see they have removed JCscoobs post which i didnt think was blatant trolling
with whats happened in the deleting the posts and admin changing posts and deleting pm's and the attitude whch has came accross
i'm afraid i WON'Tbe renewing my membership at all, as craig mcd stated, it has left a sour tasted after the conversation we had with robert (sti pretender) when he was getting his car serviced
-
As for the benefits the membership brings
cheaper trackdays - not interested
discounted servicing from dealers - get a good deal in whom i go to
cheaper insurance from specialist - cant match the deal i have for 2 cars let alone for 1 car
will this club still allow non paid members to attend the monthly meets or this is members only now
-
Couldn't agree with you more Frank
i have seen a busier graveyard recently, along with what they have done to the for sale section and lack of RO's down south of the border, it does look like the club is on it's knees, and future is not looking good, can see why this BB is dead now, folk going elsewhere
-
What's newt, you remove non paid up members posts in for sale section.
I heard at a monthly meet, from a committee member there was talk of limiting non paid up members to the number of post they could post in a 24hr period
it seethat adolf hilter is alive and well
i dont believe this is the right direction for the club, same thing happened to xroc and that folded
-
i had an active thread in for sale section posted before the only paid members rule
it was going nicely and items going now and then
just read the topic on it and dont think it is right what haarm would it do to let it run it's course
if the membership is paid does the thread return ?
