  1. Aye too blinking hot for me, bein' a northerner I love the cold, wet and windy weather - all this sun is doing me in Just to add to it all, I burnt me arm on the door panel as I set off for home tonight, no shade were I work so it's like an oven at home time, even with the windows open a wee bit Is it more like bad/extreme hayfever rather than a cold stu, all this heat would make the pollen fly about like mad?
  2. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone else was seeing weird symptoms in the cars with the heat were having at the moment. Since yesterday and having come home from work today, the car runs as if its missing a spark or two and runs like a tractor when sitting at idle. At idle the revs go up to 1200 and you can here the exhaust note jumping all over the place. I was on my way home tonight and had the CEL light flare up, this now has a secondary use as a knock sensor output from the new ecu. I was only doing 60mph at the time and not running high rpm's in anyway but it was rather warm outside. My scoop now feeds hot air from outside onto the fmic pipe that feeds the throttle bodyas the tmic is no longer there, so I'm guessing the car was getting early detonation due to the high intake temps. Anyone else seen weird things happening due to the heat? I'm after a reverse scoop now or a rear facing vent to stop this happening
  3. Oops just just made it in time SP, happy birthday, hope you had a great day Cheers, Col
  4. I never liked taking off the top mount, it was always a pain in the derrier, now its easier to work on the car with a front mount on instead What final torque figure did you use for the knock sensor bolt?? Cheers, Col
  5. So many different mods, so little time to do 'em all in I fitted a magnetic sump plug yesterday, it was a sod to fit as it kept on sticking to the side of the sump when it was being screwed in. Reminded me of James Bond trying to defuse a nuclear bomb Hopefully this sump plug should help draw in the swarf and keep it out of harms way.
  6. To be truthful mate I dont know what price, I'll do a bit of digging to get an average price that they are going for and let you know. I'll hold onto it for you so it wont be sold to anyone else matey
  7. Ah cool, thanks for the confirmation Stu I'll try it out in wee bits, I've been pulling my hair our trying to get this looking right, time to glue my hair back on again
  8. A question for the painting guru's - I've been spraying a new facelift front radiator grill/cover and fairly happy with the finish so far. When using the lacquer, I can never seem to get the finish I want, but after reading on another site about how they did it I might be worrying about nothing. What they say is that once a few coats of lacquer have been applied they have then used a wet 1500/2000 grit over the whole area to remove any final imperfections in the finish. Once this was done they then sealed it with a good quality wax to bring out the shine on the surface - is this where I am going wrong with getting a final finish to the painted parts? Cheers, Col.
  9. Here's the linkie for the underdash alternate location.... The knock link can be modified too so that rather than the 5 led's on it, it has 10 output pins to drive leds so you get a more gradual indication of oncoming knock - but thats something on a big mod list of mine..
  10. Must be an invisible linkie if it's the one I've seen it relocates the knock link led's via longer wires and either runs them into the top of the under side of the dashboard. There was another where someone had moved the lights to a pillar mount pod...but for the life of me I can't remember where it is Talking of of knock links, I have a dead one here which after a bit of reverse engineering could be 'fixed' and put to some use
  11. Oh no matey, just an example to show a similar bike for reference purposes
  12. Good to hear the hands are still in one piece I think that the battery and possibly water bottle have to come out one side and then airbox for the other side to get at the plugs, don't quote me but I think someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to correct me if I'm telling you fibs. I can't say for sure on the torque settings for the knock sensor, is that an extra sensor or one to replace the existing one? Cheers, Col
  13. Hi Ant, the bike is a Shockwave SUS 450, my lad is 6ft and its just starting to get a bit ob the small side, but still perfectly ridable. Linkie Cheers, Col
  14. Sounds good to me, thats the mesh for me then, pity the pidgeon got the bum deal
  15. They look rather nice Iain, sets the car off just right.
  16. Hi Ant, as it happens my lad is getting a new mountain bike for his birthday, so after sunday he was going to sell his on. We need to put the original seat back on, but if you're after one I'm sure we could come to a wee deal
  17. Nice one matey, did you manage not to take the skin off your knuckles whilst doing it So what's next on your list?? Cheers, Col
  18. That looks a better bet Iain, bigger holes to let the air through, is it a tough enough material to stop stones 'n things entering?
  19. I reckon its bright green
  20. Halfrauds do these meshes the diamond competition mesh being corrosion resistant looks like the one to use, is this what you have on yours Iain?
  21. Thanks Iain, what sort of stuff did you use for the bonding, was it araldite glue/resin or did you have to fibreglass it in place? I'm liking the idea of chicken wire though, it gives it the country bumpkin look, I'll try and find some chicken feathers to attach it to for some added authenticity Cheers, Col
  22. Ah yes, I find lots of research valuable - I'm glad to see you doing the same thing for the good of the club As for rubbing it in, no worries, I made sure I invoiced them for the work, 10 hours at time and a half = a happy chappy being freelance does still have some perks
  23. Hi Iain, with my new IC on I'm now starting as worry about big ass stones and rocks hitting it whilst driving about, where did you get your intercooler grills from, does it fit to the bumper or attached to the IC itself and was it easy to fit? Myles reminded me the other night about fitting one, so to stop rocks, stones and big ass pheasants killing it I reckon I'd need one on soon. Cheers, Col
  24. Yikes, sorry guys, not sure yet if I can make this as yet, its our 20th wedding anniversary on the 9th so not sure where were gonna be yet.
  25. Yeah Stu, be afraid.....be very afraid actually that ain't my car but it does prove that someone else does have an impeccable taste in classic wagons There was a black BMW to the left of my car as we started to park up and as soon as the car go close to it, the BMW's alarm sounded off. I'm not sure if it was my exzorst note that had set it off or proximity but it must be kind of sensitive As for swimming with swans, thats easy, I once swam off this little beach on Ascension Island where there were little black fish that bit you on site, not quite piranha's but it was enough to make you get back to the beach
